If the system allowed voters to prevent Democrats from having a candidate in the general election, they would sue and a liberal court would decide that it is unconstitutional to deny a party a place on the ballot. If Republicans are kept off the ballot, it is celebrated.

I was VERY surprised by this I though it would be the DEM with the most votes and the pubbie with the most votes, with this system CA. will NEVER have a pubbie senator!!!

Its even worse than it seems in California...

On my Republican ballot there were 34 candidates listed on the ballot for US Senator. 3 Republicans and all the Dems/Greens/libertarians etc. because those other parties accept crossover votes.

On the Democrat ballot only Democrats appeared.....because the Republicans don’t allow crossover votes for their candidates.
