Now on TV. "Fair Wage Warriors" have stormed a Cook County Walmart, blocking all checkout lines while demanding a "fair wage." No police present; Cook County Board members backing the protestors.
They should, but they are afraid of public opinion. Companies are always asking if they are good corporate citizens, good for the environment, socially responsible, and helping their communities. Never mind that when they sell the best goods at the lowest prices, they are really doing all those things. The leftists have managed to scare all these big companies into bowing to their BS agenda.
Chicagadishu
It is a neighborhood WalMart, probably at least 10 lanes, they are blocking each one.
They may just do that. I think they've done it before. No skin off their backs. They have 1000s of stores where people appreciate them.
"Don't mind me, I'm just watering my protestors!"
I’d LOL but I’ve been through that - usually 36 lanes with 1 or 2 open. At best.
In the modern parlance: ewwww.
[The protestors aren’t making any sense, if they really want to solve the problem. The reason wages are so low is that cheap invader labor, with the invaders getting A LOT of gov’t handouts, are undermining wages. if these protestors were sincere, what they’d be protesting against is non-citizens being in the US for cheap labor and jobs being shipped overseas where workers get slave labor wages and working conditions. If they really wanted to solve the problem, they’d be Trump supporters!]
Too complicated for liberals to figure out.....so they won’t.
And it PAYS well!
Let this be a lesson to any large corporation that is stupid enough to try to do the “right thing” and invest in the inner-city. You won’t be thanked. You will be viewed as the enemy and will be attacked.

I see the SJW have changed the semantics of their cause...
“Living Wage” is confusing and worn out...
Everybody wants to be “Fair”...?...Right...?
But if they do that, where will the people in the neighborhood go to do their shoplifting?
This is where food deserts and other areas with no low-cost consumer options come from.
Such a nice store. Too bad it had to be closed due to plumbing problems that would have been prohibitively expensive to repair.
They’re on private property, right? Start throwing lead at em.
But that of course if one of the unintended consequences of providing unearned benefits to people who could potentially be working. Once you have government supplied benefits to people with low incomes, the labor market adjusts accordingly. For those workers, low income isn't really the same as low wages since their actual income is the sum of what they are paid at work and their government benefits.
In many states a single mother needs to earn close to $50,000 before her earnings match the value of her government benefits. But there aren't that many jobs, and certainly not many in retail stores, which can support that kind of salary without adjustments throughout the economy.
If there wasn't a pool of potential workers who rely on their government benefits, and a steady supply of immigrants willing to work for low wages and receive government benefits, then the market would adjust to pay higher wages since they would be necessary in order for employers to hire the workers they need.
Perhaps a more effective way to increase wages at Walmart would be to reduce the availability of government benefits, and reduce the costs associated with healthcare and taxes.
The harmonic waves in her fat rolls are impressive.
A word of caution: Walmart used to play hardball.
Just this spring they closed around 20 or so stores.
If wage increase - store sales + loss of income due to protesters = red ink, then the closest Walmart store could be the one a few miles away.
I’d like to see them try that on the first of the month when the EBT cards just refreshed.
Line up the employees, have them count off.
All even numbers to the left, all odd numbers to the right.
Even number employees get substantial raise.
Odd numbers..your fired.
