Joshua Bruner is a real-life Captain America.

The 15-year-old country boy from Ringoes, New Jersey is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He’s a member of two state shooting teams and he serves as a United States Sea Cadet.

Darcy Meys said her son wants to follow in his great-grandfather’s footsteps and enlist in the Marines.

“Josh considers himself to be a patriot,” she told me. “He loves his country.”

A few weeks ago Josh was given an assignment in a photography class at Hunterdon Central Regional High School. He had to take a self-portrait representing self-expression.

So Josh and some of his buddies gathered in a field behind his house and set up a tripod – striking their best male model poses.

Josh climbed atop a four-wheeler. He was holding Old Glory in one hand and a shotgun in the other – a Remington pump action 12-gauge to be precise.

Can you name one senior military officer who has stood up to the leftist politics and social engineering that has permeated the ranks of the military?

That's like saying the best way to overturn Target's loony trans-gender bathroom policy is to have lots of young conservatives go to work for Target.

If I had any interest in the military and in defending my country, I'd go to work for Blackwater or start a local militia. That would certainly be a more effective way to go about it.

One more reason not to send your kids to public school where they will be discriminated against and subject to endless left-wing indoctrination.

Local militia?

If you want to advance your agenda, you need to have your people in the organizations that matter.

That’s how the left took over the media, academia, etc.

Retreating to nooks and crannies like “local militia” won’t accomplish jack squat.

If we didn’t have a patriotic military, we would have already been taken over by other countries.

That helps explain why allowing gays to openly serve was so important. It makes military service less appealing to patriotic Americans.

Are you saying he should not want to defend his country.

I don't think that is what she is saying. Unfortunately it appears that the candidates of a certain political party are veering further and further away from the intent of the founders of our nation, and our traditional values and way of life. At some point, wanting to defend his country may not align with the actual activities of the government.

Somehow I find it hard to believe that any of the Marines that fought so bravely, and with so much of a cost, to free Fallujah did it so that our present administration could let ISIS capture and use the equipment we left behind while they funded hard core militants fighting against Syria's government.

I agree with most of what you said on the use of the military. But if we didn’t have a patriotic military, we could have been taken over in WWII. I am hoping that Trump is telling the truth and will use our military for what it’s supposed to do - protect America!

That said, when my son joined the military, I was not happy that he would be serving under Clinton, but very proud of him. Since then, I now realize that Bush didn’t care about our sons and daughters either. He sent them over to Iraq because Saddam had a plot to kill his father, not because of 9/11, which was Saudi linked.

I’m just disgusted with both parties. Bush Jr. is the one that rehabilitated Clinton with his Tsunami charity drive. They also gave Hillary an award from one of their foundations. He’s never said anything about Obama’s disastrous agenda. And now that they have made the military part of their social agenda, I would not be happy with my child joining this military. ISIS is a Hillary / Obama creation.

I am hoping Trump keeps his word and uses the military for it’s original purpose - defense, not nation building.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

yes, and that is why honor is broken with events like Benghazi, and the Hilliary’s breach of security scandal (via editing and emailing classified info).

I guess one has to have an interest before one's brain starts working. Keep your fantasy alive and dream about being a mercenary - it's probably as close as you'll ever get to any sort of honor.

Yep - and the guy I was talking with later said that "If I had any interest in the military or defending my country....." so I decided he wasn't worth talking to about honorable topics.

Sure -- let's send all of our kids to join the U.S. military so they can "defend our country" in third world sh!t-holes all over the globe ...

... while radical Islamic terrorists are free to roam about this country and shoot up government offices in California and a gay nightclub in Florida.

Wny don't you tell me how that's working out, eh?

You are really clueless. You earlier asked for one prominent military guy that bucks the system and I have worked with dozens upon dozens of honorable men and women, along with commanders, who help keep us from tipping over the last cliff despite the fact that the CINC and many of the politicians posing as officers hold absolute power over them.

You would cede the whole ball of wax and ensure defeat instead of hanging in there and fighting the battles as they arise and holding out for some sanity in the WH.

Losers lose and those without honor mock those with honor. Cowards with no substance rationalize why bravery and diligence are bad traits.

Next time you look in the mirror, have the dictionary open to "Quisling".....

“But if we didn’t have a patriotic military, we could have been taken over in WWII.”

FRiend, WWII may as well have been a thousand years ago. Do you think you would see block-long lines of young men waiting to join up; lying about their ages or medical problems in order to qualify to fight if we were suddenly attacked today?

It was a whole different nation then. People were used to hard times, depressions, going hungry. People were tough and they believed in America and American ways. Today, it's all about “me”. Every man, woman, or whatever combo of both one chooses to be is perfectly happy to let someone else do the dirty work. We have government, at all levels, made up of criminals, communists, narcissists, and deviants who, frankly, aren't worth wasting a bullet on. What are we to do?
