Mateen was a 'known quantity' to federal law enforcement before he killed 53 people in the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.
Omar Mateen of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, came to the attention of federal authorities twice prior to being identified as the gunman in the Orlando nightclub mass shooting, a senior law enforcement source told The Daily Beast.

The senior law enforcement source reports that Mateen became a person of interest in 2013 and again in 2014. The Federal Bureau of Investigation at one point opened an investigation on Mateen but subsequently closed the case when it produced nothing that appeared to warrant further investigation.
"He's a known quantity," the source said. "He's been on the radar before."
The gunman is said by the source to have been born in New York and to have been married for a time to a woman from New Jersey. His father, Seddique Mateen, appears to reside in Florida, but is said to be presently running for office in Afghanistan.

What an absolutely piece of trash the Daily Beast is. It kept giving details on him and never mentioned the most important one - that he’s a devout Muslim.
Truly despicable. It should be fun seeing the left twist itself into unrecognizable pretzels as it tries to defend two of its favorite victim classes.
Daily Telegraph is reporting that Mateen made a “pledge of allegiance to Isil.”
I can’t find anything else about this at the moment.

It didn't surprise me that he exhorted everyone to "not jump to conclusions".
Most of us had already jumped before he stood before the national microphone.
It appears that the muzzies are now prepared with rapid-response offense/defense propaganda teams immediately after an event like this happens....and they are actually granted a sounding-board of their own right along with the FBI, law enforcement and state and local officials participating in the ensuing press conferences.

I suspect many of these so-called "watchlists" are formulated after the fact in an effort to make it look as though they're doing more than they are. If there are such lists, no one looks at them, or muzzies get a free pass - wouldn't be politically correct to do otherwise.

Crazy, FBI STILL will not state his name, even though it’s been all over media for 3 hours, said they had to notify next of kin, but have been talking to his dad for 2 hours. Don’t understand this, they know, everybody knows who it is, yet they remain silent on ID. Bizarre, do they not realize they appear slow-minded and unprofessional?
