The gay activist is another Romney. He has a position of privilege and probably money based upon how many gays he can deliver to vote for democrats. Like Romney, he fells a small tremor and tires to calm nerves, thinking everything will be back to normal. But he doesn't see that the ground is fundamentally moving under his feet.
I think 2016 will have a significant shift between who the heads of organizations such as civil rights groups and unions support, and who the rank and file vote for when it is just them in a voting booth
