“Voters would need to approve change”

Voters here do exactly what Democrats tell them to. Next up, voters will vote to overturn Prop 13. Then they will blame the Republicans that their property taxes went through the roof.

If Prop 13 were repealed property taxes wouldn't necessarily go through the roof. Each city/county could decide on its own what property taxes were. Some cities and counties could decide on lowering property taxes.

How great would that be? It then might make sense for people to vote in Republican mayors and county commissioners so they could have low property taxes.

Those successful tax-lowering mayors and commissioners could then go on to compete to become state assemblymen, senators, and even go after the governorship.

As it now with property taxes held where they are by the state, it is best to vote for a Democrat mayor or commissioner, i.e. someone who will work hard to lure as much state welfare as possible back to his district.
