This is silly. Its not important that its a SIG and not an AR. These are just makes and models, not a difference in kind.
Its equivalent to an AR-15 in every important respect. It could have been a Mini-14 or Tavor or HK or AK just as well. If anyone is going to start banning they will get the lot of them no matter what make and model.

I keep telling all my lib friends this.
They keep saying they’re OK with hunting guns but assault rifles should be banned. Then I tell them the difference as you have. Then they switch to... “Clip” capacity, waiting periods and closing loopholes.
It is so sad trying to educate those that don’t want to be educated when it flies in the face of their chosen idealism.
That's the plan. Only going after ONE(1) gun, the dangerous one, just common sense, you still have all the other guns. Then it turns out the actual legislation is a bit wider, covering guns which are "really the same" as the AR-15
