Top Republicans join Obama in condemning Trump’s words

Top Republicans joined with President Obama and other Democrats Tuesday in sharply condemning Donald Trump’s reaction to the nightclub massacre in Orlando, decrying his anti-Muslim rhetoric and his questioning of Obama’s allegiances as divisive and out of step with America’s values.

Trump — who just a week ago signaled an intent to snap his campaign into a more measured tone for the general election — showed no sign of backing down from his suggestions that Obama was somehow connected to or sympathetic with terrorists, telling the Associated Press that the president “continues to prioritize our enemy” over Americans.

In separate appearances, both Obama and his potential successor, likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, blasted Trump’s proposal to ban foreign Muslims from the United States as dangerous and contrary to the nation’s traditions.

A visibly angry Obama also dismissed Trump’s repeated demands for him to use the term “radical Islam” when speaking about the Orlando shootings and other attacks. “Calling a threat by a different name does not make it go away,” Obama said. “This is a political distraction.”

Clinton described Trump’s response to Orlando as rife with “conspiracy theories” and “pathological self-congratulations.”

Speaker Paul D. Ryan (Wis.) denounced Trump for trying to rally support for his anti-Muslim policies, while others castigated Trump for the accusations he has lobbed at Obama.

“I do not think a Muslim ban is in our country’s interest,” Ryan told reporters. “I do not think it is reflective of our principles, not just as a party but as a country.” He called for “a security test, not a religious test” for immigrants.

In a speech Monday, Trump had reiterated his calls for such a ban and expanded its potential reach to include any country with “a history” of terrorism against the United States and its allies.

Ryan and the other Republicrats and the Democrats who hop on the slam Trump wagon are sickening! Ryan is the most repulsive of all careerist politicians.

It's amazing how frightened the white hut perverts and all those Ryan types are of Trump; they are trying everything they can to make him look bad.

Trump said what a majority agree with: we need to strengthen our security and make sure we know what is entering our poor nation. I think that should have been happening all along. The government is lazy and does not care about the people they only care about their own agenda's and money making. Trump cares about America's future.

This nation sorely needs Donald Trump in the restored White House! America will truly get HOPE AND CHANGE!

Quislings - all of them. I add Cruz to their side as he has failed to stand up for America by endorsing the only one that had similar goals/policies to him. He may think it will help him to run again but he is relegating himself to the dustbin of posterity.

Top Republicans join Obama in condemning the truth.

And don't think the voters are watching.

Trump really is exposing how anti America these losers are. They are in it only for themselves, and could care less about the citizens of this country. It’s pretty sad.

The GOPe has basically allied themselves with the Democrats & the Media against Trump.

I do see them trying to pull something at the Convention to try to deny him the Nomination.

Some Repubs never learn the value of STFU. Not everything needs a comment, and many time the best comment is No Comment.

The GOP-e is not as strong as we like, but hey, let’s consider the source of all these “Republicans hate Trump” stories: Democrat propaganda spewers like the Washington Post, Yahoo Fake News, etc. etc. etc.

To me, there is a whoooole lot of difference between reality and what the media prints/publishes/broadcasts.

The desire of the media is to put a wedge between Trump and the GOP-e. The media has already TRIED putting a wedge between Trump and the electorate. That hasn’t worked.

So let’s consider the source. They want us to feel bad. “Agitation Propaganda” or AGITPROP is the term. Don’t fall for it.

What was the reason Mr. Trump decided not to go Independent way back when?

If these high level Republicans haven’t treated him and his campaign unfairly, then I don’t know what constitutes unfairness.

If there’s any way it can still be done I think he should do it. His supporters will definitely not abandon him.

How much of anything printed by WaPo is useful?

Little to none...however...

Ryan is a quisling traitor, as is Yertle the Tertle.

I have no doubt that Ryan said this, he speaks only in his own best interest.

I suspect he wants a POTUS shot for himself in four years.

As for the Tertle...I pegged him a long time ago.

So all the comPost is doing is dragging up crap that has already been confirmed by anyone that has the least bit of political awareness.

And, like Ryan and the Tertle and a few others, the comPost does more damage to themselves than they realize.

Quislings to the max. I’ve been pushed to this sad point
In November, I will NOT be voting for a REPUBLICAN for the very first time ever.
Instead I will vote for Donald Trump, a AMERICAN who loves his country, will defend his country, and will refrain from blaming OUR country for all the ills of the world. There are “REPUBLICANS” running who I will ignore, this time I’m voting for the AMERICAN.
Like millions of others, I’ve had enough of this crap.
