Attorney General Loretta Lynch overruled FBI Director James B. Comey on Thursday, saying the Obama administration does support a ban on firearms sales to those on terrorist watch lists.
Mr. Comey last year had told Congress that the ban could end up alerting suspected terrorists that they are being investigated, and that could “blow” the cases his agents are trying to build.
But his superiors at the Justice Department rejected that, issuing a statement Thursday saying they want to see Congress approve the “no-fly, no-buy” plan Democrats are pursuing.
“The amendment gives the Justice Department an important additional tool to prevent the sale of guns to suspected terrorists by licensed firearms dealers while ensuring protection of the department’s operational and investigative sensitivities,” department spokesman Dena Iverson said in a statement.
The statement didn’t explain why officials disagreed with Mr. Comey’s evaluation.

Yep. My mother, age 72 was on the no fly list....some scumbag with similar name with warrants out. Took her MONTHS to get off of it, with the help of liberal Dem. Vic Snyder believe it or not.
The headache didn’t end there. YEARS after getting off the list, I got her signed up for TSA Precheck and Global Entry. Nope. Feds say she can’t have TSA precheck or Global entry because, at one point, she was on a no fly list. A couple of thousand dollars in lawyer fees letter, with Senator John Bozeman and Congressman Tim Griffin, we FINALLY persuaded them that she is a good citizen.
72 years old, 800+ credit score, no arrests, no traffic citations, NOTHING....(she did get a C in badminton in 1958).
The “No fly/No Buy” legislation sounds good, but the .gov will screw that up too. Call your Congresscritter and Senator and tell them this story.

What a nightmare, no due process at all. And that was a pure mistake. Others are on it for being drunken idiots or just plain idiots but that isn’t cause for summarily stripping them of their natural right to buy a gun.
Exactly. If you pop up on the radar, you should be thoroughly investigated. If a threat, deport: If no threat, there is no reason to be kept on a “list”.

I support adding the No Fly List AND the Terrorist Watch list to the background check IF there is an appeal process codified in law. It is too easy for a rogue administration to use the lists as currently construed to disarm innocent (read that patriot) civilians to circumvent ones Constitutional Rights. We cannot let the No Fly list become a defact “enemies” list for Øbama.
In a few months Obama and his Admin will be on the No-Fly List

Exactly. Negative reaction seems premature. Not entirely sure of the legislative/administrative history on the two issues (no fly - no buy) but if a Republican-controlled Congress cannot stop this, we are truly screwed.
