It’s one way assimilation.....the Muslims want us all converted or dead.
In all of the groups I have ever been a part of, whether sports related, school related and what have you, muslims ALWAYS kept to their own groups defined by their religion. I have NEVER seen them try to assimilate.
I have a more mixed experience. I suppose that definitions of “assimilate” are important here as well.
Most of those that I’ve known that seemed to join in culturally were those that fled the fall of the Shah. These do retain cultural traits from their heritage, but are fairly eclectic amongst the members - and some becoming Christian.
A fair portion of Lebanese fall into that category as well.
As for those that identify as Palestinian, none that I can recall associating with have been significantly assimilated - except perhaps in over-the-top hedonism, with a mix of whacko.
