As the years go by, the character of Father’s Day has constantly changed for me. It used to be fun to see what sort of gifts my children thought I would like. Paintings, handmade gifts, socks and ties.

Nowadays, my grandkids are giving me similar gifts and, if anything, I enjoy them even more as “Papa” becomes my new moniker. And I have to say that I am blessed to havey three healthy children, their spouses and those grandkids in my life — that is a gift I am so grateful for.

I will do my best to remember that we are not promised another day and to be thankful.

I had a Toyota Corolla years ago and it’s the only foreign car I’ve ever owned. It was a good car but I’m an American car gal. I grew up with Buicks and Chevys and Hubby grew up with Fords, Mercurys, and Lincolns. Most of our vehicles are his choice but I do have a ‘96 Buick station wagon for grocery shopping and hauling larger items that won’t fit in the Town Car well.

You couldn’t give me a new car of any sort. I have no use for all that computerized garbage they put in them these days. Cars are supposed to be mechanical with enough electrical stuff to run the radio and lights. I’m old-school on that.

No, I didn’t put Baby in the car show though I wanted to. I can’t take spending all day in the sun and heat any more. This was a show I’d looked forward to because the club members actually judge the cars, using the AACA judging criteria. Most shows around here are people’s choice because the folks putting on the shows don’t know how to judge. I know exactly what this club looks for when judging because I was a member for 12 years and was a judge at the shows. :-)

LOL! I figured your mom was giving some sort of fits last night. Your absence is always a good indicator.

I was exhausted and went to bed early. Two weeks of my back acting up and not letting me sleep much finally caught up with me. It’s finally feeling better and I was able to sleep for a change. Almost feel human again!
