Trump needs to read our Bill of Rights. Restricting purchases based on some watch list runs afoul of due process and of the right to keep and bear arms.

Just one follow up question, Mr. Trump, if you know who the terrorists are, why are they walking around possibly buying guns instead of in prison? Why are sex offender lists published, yet the names of those who might walk into a church, a night club, a movie theatre not published as well?

On the other hand, on the same blog, by the same author, comes the article “Trump to Obama: ‘It’s not guns. It’s terrorism’”.
Since the two articles are diametrically opposed, I have to assume that Trump goes before the NRA to really understand the issue, and that this sentiment is expressed before that understanding is had.
This is one of those issues that the public probably supports.
It would be nice if Trump understood the Second Amendment and the thought process of our Founding Fathers. He is not quite as wrong as Hillary, Obama, Pelosi, and Reid, but Trump is still exceptionally wrong on this issue.
i have no problem keeping weapons from terrorists - but there should be due process - so the rest of us can be protected from the greedy reach of government. also it seems like the only list that this admin is capable of keeping long and complete is the VA waiting list for treatment.

I only support politicians who support the constitution. None other need apply. Some on this site have pointed out the squishie trump constitutional positions before, only to be ridiculed.

How do we know some watch list is not politically motivated, IRS-Lois Lerner and nothing happened to Obama/Lerner yet.
Trump really should be careful of what he says.
This isn't the "declaration" that the headline and the hand-wringers make i tout to be.
You might be a terrorist if any of the following apply,
1. you won’t bake a cake for a gay wedding
2. you don’t believe in global warming
3. you drive an suv
4. you eat meat
5. you believe in Jesus
6. you own a gun and you don’t hunt with it or aren’t required to have it for your job
7. you refer to undocumented immigrants as illegals
8. you think taxes are too high
9. you think you have individual rights that can’t be usurped without due process
10.you believe in a right to life
Why is a US citizen even on the No Fly list in the first place? Shouldn’t this be for terrorists, illegal aliens, and anyone we do not want coming to American? Americans? Charge them with a crime if there is a crime to address.
Seems to me the state can’t even get profiling and border security right, which seem pretty common sense to me. Lets see them act like they really care about the safety of citizens for a while before we give them the benefit of the doubt to use secret lists to restrict guns, in my opinion.
Trump should know this, it’s not that hard.

It obviously never occurred to him that he and all his supporters would be immediately placed on any such list.
It doesn’t matter. He represents “nationalism” and “American First!” He could endorse Marxism-Leninism and some conservatives would cheer him. Hey . . . at least they’d be “American” communists!

I find it interesting that after reading the first 80-90 comments in here, no one has pointed out the most insidious part of Trump’s comment. The phrase “even an inclination” rises to the level of thought crime.
This is how you get to neighbors reporting on neighbors, and kids reporting on parents. Worse, this is how you get to people lying about you and suddenly your rights are demolished.
Those of us who’ve been against Trump from the beginning, and still are, are not in the least bit surprised by his latest rambling, however. Not in the least.
For those of you who have been sucked in, enjoy your rationalizing efforts, but get used to having to do it regularly between now and November (or July).
I support putting all criminal terrorist Muslims on a watch list and getting them stripped of all their rights. I also support making terrorist nations get banned from entering this country. No more rights to guns or anything else. I don’t support the banning of guns or gun control. I support stopping terrorism.
