GOP's Trump says US should consider profiling Muslims

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump suggested Sunday that the United States should "seriously" consider profiling Muslims inside the country as a terrorism-fighting tool, the latest example of the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting increasingly backing positions that could single out a group based on their religion.

"We really have to look at profiling," Trump said in an interview broadcast Sunday on CBS's "Face the Nation." ''It's not the worst thing to do."

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee added that he "hate(s) the concept of profiling, but we have to use common sense."

The statements are consistent with Trump's other, long-expressed views on how to stop terrorism in the United States, including a temporary ban on foreign Muslims from entering the country until the U.S. can figure out "what is going on."

Trump has doubled down on this approach since Omar Mateen carried out the worst mass shooting in modern American history on June 12 at a gay club in Orlando, Florida. Forty-nine people were killed in the attack, which stoked a mix of fears about terrorism, guns and violence against gays.

I admit, Mr. Trump was not my first choice. However, I did not get involved in the sniping and name-calling, because, looking at the figures, I knew that Donald was going to be the nominee, and that I would end up supporting him, which I am now doing.

However, I was in Florida, just 3 hours away from this massacre when it happened, and have been a frequent visitor to Orlando when I was a Florida resident.

Logan Airport, where two to the 9/11 planes embarked, has a full staff of attendants and wheel-chair-pushers who are all VEILED MUSLIM WOMEN! I just flew out from Terminal 3 and I was absolutely aghast at the sight. I counted EIGHT hijabs and two face veils while sitting waiting for my plane. Then the veiled crew began to block off the waiting area with wheelchairs, making it awkward to leave our seats.

This was on 6/11. I KNEW something was “up” but had no idea it was going to be in Orlando. The plane leaving my gate (C9) was a direct flight to RSW (Southwest Florida International Airport).

It may have been nothing, but my awareness of “The Elephant in the Room” has been heightened.

And now, I am an enthusiastic supporter of the only candidate who sees the elephant.

No consideration of secret lists connected to gun buying restrictions until the state acts like it actually cares about the safety of its citizens for a few years. Profiling groups that statistics show commit these crimes and securing the border are two good places to start. No more frisking 90 year old white women and ignoring 25 year old muslim men, I mean come on.

Arguing against profiling is one of the most egregious ways in which Political Correctness has handicapped and hamstrung the power of the Federal and local governments to curtail and contain much of the unrest due to criminal and terrorist activities in this country.

The “no-profiling” strategy was supposed to make the practice more “acceptable” to mainstream citizens, but it has ended up in doing exactly the opposite. Old ladies in wheelchairs are pulled over by the TSA, while bands of very Middle Eastern men acting furtively are simply waved on through to board unmolested. Black men driving cars through wealthy white neighborhoods may complain about being charged with “driving while black”, but this is not the same response everywhere. New York City once had a policy of “stop and frisk”, which drove down crime rates almost disproportionately, but it has been dropped under the present “integrationist” regime in that city.

There are many other examples, but up to now, many of them have been subject to charges of “racism” or “bigotry”.

Many criminals and terrorists share a number of traits that have little or nothing to do with either race or any other form of bias.

“Donald Trump suggested Sunday that the United States should “seriously” consider profiling Muslims inside the country”

Ya think?

I thought this was settled a long time ago.

It’s what I always liked about Trump.

Why does it sound like he is tentative now?

If LEFT WING NUTJOBS scream that “PROFILING IS RACIST,” Trump needs to shut them down with:

“You left wingers have been “PROFILING” White Males for the past 40 years.....

I see no reason to argue or try to reason with them.

It just distracts from the task at hand and moves things off message.

Lynch: “Partial Transcript” Of Orlando 911 Calls Will Have References To Islamic Terrorism Removed

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2016/06/19/lynch_partial_transcript_of_orlando_911_calls_will_have_references_to_isis_cut_out.html

In an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Attorney General Loretta Lynch says that on Monday, the FBI will release edited transcripts of the 911 calls made by the Orlando nightclub shooter to the police during his rampage.

“What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of alleigance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda,” Lynch said. “We are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance [to the Islamic State].”

The judicial branch must be blind to ensure fair trial, but legislative and executive branches should NOT be blind, or else the entire country is blind. You do not want blind branches of government, but the government branches, especially executive branch, wide open and aware of everything — all law breakers out there. The legislative branch must be slow... no new laws necessary after 250 years. There are enough laws already in the books. The only active branch needs to the executive branch.

“It’s worked for decades for Israel.”

Israel is an European-style welfare state that has not (yet) gone completely suicidal when dealing with Muslims.

About a month before 911, GWB announced he was ending ethnic profiling, you see where that got us.

9/11 happened under Bush’s watch. With Obola, it is death by a thousand cuts. Obola-incuded death-toll has probably exceed Bush’s. Has anyone tallied the numbers?

Once we are permitted to profile Muslims, we are permitted by precedent to profile all

When that happens, black homogeneity is lost and the black voter block fragments in chaos.

As has been stated elsewhere on Free Republic, that is the reason Obama will not say Radical Islamist extremists

Whaaaaaaat? Actually profile the people committing the crimes? That’s just crazy! SSecurity forces should keep singleing out my 91 year old veteran dad, which they always do at airports. That’s what will keep us safe

I doubt it's come close to the 2800 that died on 9/11.

News flash. Everyone who has an auto insurance policy is already being profiled as to their insurability risk. Everyone who has a credit card is profiled looking for "unusual" charge patterns. Anyone who uses Facebook, Google, or any other ad-supported site is being profiled to tune the ads being served to them.

Profiling is ubiquitous these days. Do you really think all those street cameras were put up just for traffic? We already live in a surveillance society--that ship sailed a long time ago.

Trump is correct. Intelligent, targeted profiling is the simplest, cheapest, and least intrusive means of enhancing public safety. He just needs to point out that profiling is exactly what politicians do so they know what lies to tell to whom to maximize their vote turnout. Targeted polling and messaging is all based on profiling and the data analytics that come with it.

Israel profiles extensively, but that’s them, so everyone says it’s OK. But, the same ones who say it’s OK for Israel to profile, scream bloody murder if we do it here, the same goes for border security, including a wall. What’s good for Israel is not good for the US.

Israel does the same - and I don’t hear Jewish people here (or others) screaming about that.

...but then lots of Jewish people travel to Israel, and do want to return home in one piece.

profile a religion?
no

profile an evil conspiracy that teaches and organizes its members to hate, infiltrate, terrorize, conquer, and subjugate Christians, Jews, and other innocent people?
YES!

deport them and 95% of our problem is solved
