California's state religion
Orange County Register ^ | 06-19-2016 | JOEL KOTKIN

Posted on 06/19/2016 3:35:33 PM PDT by NRx

In a state ruled by a former Jesuit, perhaps we should not be shocked to find ourselves in the grip of an incipient state religion. Of course, this religion is not actually Christianity, or even anything close to the dogma of Catholicism, but something that increasingly resembles the former Soviet Union, or present-day Iran and Saudi Arabia, than the supposed world center of free, untrammeled expression.

Two pieces of legislation introduced in the Legislature last session, but not yet enacted, show the power of the new religion. One is Senate Bill 1146, which seeks to limit the historically broad exemptions the state and federal governments have provided religious schools to, well, be religious.

Under the rubric of official “tolerance,” the bill would only allow religiously focused schools to deviate from the secular orthodoxy required at nonreligious schools, including support for transgender bathrooms or limitations on expressions of faith by students and even Christian university presidents, in a much narrower range of educational activity than ever before. Many schools believe the bill would needlessly risk their mission and funding to “solve” gender and social equity problems on their campuses that currently don’t exist.

The second piece of legislation, thankfully temporarily tabled, Senate Bill 1161, the Orwellian-named “California Climate Science Truth and Accountability Act of 2016,” would have dramatically extended the period of time that state officials could prosecute anyone who dared challenge the climate orthodoxy, including statements made decades ago. It would have sought “redress for unfair competition practices committed by entities that have deceived, confused or misled the public on the risks of climate change or financially supported activities that have deceived, confused or misled the public on those risks.”

That's who Brown is.

He's a ReConquistador, a Catholic Crusader from the past, vowing to punish all who deviate from the Dogma.

He's everything the Americans AREN'T.

And he is importing his like minded gangbangers to threaten anyone who might harbor "deviationist" thoughts.

It's no accident he wants tens of millions of mindless Mexican Catolicos here. They will line up like sheep behind whatever he says, and mount terror campaigns against all who disagree.

Maybe the "climate truth" act should pass so the lying alarmists can be sued in court and the light of day shown on their data-fudging.

“In a state ruled by a former Jesuit”

Jerry Brown failed as a Jesuit and was kicked out. He was reportedly too lazy to participate.

The religion of America SEEMS to be:

capitalism, stuff, new cars, extra bathrooms, take-out food, newest clothes, electronics, TV for every family member, car for every family member.
Sundays for ANYTHING other that a religious service--football, baseball, beach time, surfing, breakfast out, etc.
Grace before/after meals? Huh? Does that come with a "happy meal"?
Celebrating Christmas and Easter as RELIGIOUS holidays?? Are you NUTS?!
Daily Mass? Pul-eeeze. I have too much stuff to do.
Saying the rosary every day? Pul-eeze. I don't have the time.

Jesus died for our sins. You'd THINK that we would show Him some gratitude by doing just TWO things:
1. Love God with all my soul, mind, heart, strength and
2. Love my neighbor as myself.

I didn't know that. It isn't in any of the on-line biographies.

California increasingly resembles the totalitarian superstate of Oceania in 1984.

All that’s missing is MiniLuv to enforce conformity.

All those "mindless Mexican catolicos" still can't vote, so who cares?
They DO manage to get the jobs that gringos don't want to do: taking care of their own babies so they can afford a fifth car, a trip to Vegas and a bigger house...

And, since those illegals don't pay taxes, no one has to give them retirement. Besides, they send MOST of their dinero back home to Mexico.

The Mexican government has to spend muchos pesos on their SOUTHERN border, keeping out all those central Americans who are MORE poor than mexicanos and will work for even LESS than the pobres de Mexico."

Down with Brown. He's already 78 YEARS OLD so his public service time is just about done.

If it's so bad why is it the MOST POPULOUS state of the union with 38+ MILLION?

Texas: 26 million
New York: 19.6 million
Florida: 19.5 million

**Maybe the weather has something to do with it.

Its the end of America, folks.

Only if people knuckle under and comply. When it comes to these types of unjust laws, I intend to wreak havoc on any jury I can get selected for. That's just one easy opportunity to monkey-wrench. I'm sure you can come up with many of your own. Distributed disobedience is a good way to fight government overreach before it reaches the firing squad stage.

If anyone denies that gender identity is a social construct or asserts that gender is a biological reality, let him be anathema. If anyone shall deny any part of the doctrine of climate change as revealed to Al Gore, let him be anathema.

You're writing like a PC Pinko, and maybe you don't know it. The Conquistadors didn't trouble themselves with dogma. They were too busy kicking the butts of baby-killers like the Aztecs. The pro-abort Left and the Mexi-hordes are the cultural inheritors of the (totalitarian) Aztecs. Ask them, and they'll tell you.

And Gov. Moonbeam is an ex-Catholic anti-Catholic. That's like an anti-Semitic Jew--like Soros, the kind of Jew who sells his people tickets to the gas chamber. The only houses of worship you'll see Moonbeam support are those things we call abortion mills.

In 1095, the Crusaders liberated the Holy Land from the Moslems who had conquered it and slaughtered and enslaved its inhabitants, who were Christians and Jews. Until the Moslems infested it again, once again stopping trade with the East and plunging Europe into a few hundred more years of poverty.

Are you a jihad-supporter, an abortionist, a PC gender-bender--or are you a confused conservative who learned his history from watching Dan Rather and his friends on the TV?

Oh Look! The Papist Warrior weighs in.

Aww, whatsa mattuh bubba, can’t take responsibility for your disasters, like MeHeCo?

They’re all Bueno Catolicos. La Virgen is their icon. Your folks, Junior! Ever been there? Know anything about the place?

And Jerry Geezer is just doin’ whatchall been doin the last 1000 years: beatin’ down anybody what don’t go long with your gangsterism.

It’s why us Protestants started the United States - and defeated your Spaniard co-murderers at Frederica, San Jacinto and San Juan Hill.

But you weren’t here for that, were you? And you would have been on their side...like the San Patricios.

Face facts, Scotty. You’re the Death of America, the original immigrant aliens we shouldn’t have let in.

PS

You can save yourself: repent, confess, and embrace your inner Calvinist.

It’s the American thing to do.

It’s why us Protestants started the United States

. . . based on the philosophy and theories of morals and governance of St. Thomas Aquinas--in particular the then-novel idea of subsidiarity (deciding policy matters at the lowest possible level).

Protestantism--denying that Christ was both human and divine--produced the French Revolution, and in turn, Communism. And a lot of other stupidity. We'll take credit for actual Western Civilization, though, thanks, including the scientific method, just-war theory, genetics, the heliocentric solar system, the Big Bang theory . . . and for that matter Protestants themselves.

Even the Jesuits (who kicked out Jerry Brown) inspired George Washington to write his book on manners. He was very pro-Catholic generally, but if Frenchies like Jansen and Calvin are more important to you, well don't listen to the Father of your country.

But since I pray for liberals, I certainly can have no problem praying for conservative Protestants as well.

Now who’s guilty of Revisionist History?

Bloviation worthy of the Comintern!

The gang that gave us St. Bartholomews Day Massacre is the originator of the Enlightenment?!

It is to LAUGH, Papist.

My Huguenot ancestors left France because of rampaging Calvinists?

The American Revolution was really a noble Catholic initiative, even though the country was 98% Protestant?

Oh right...it all came from Lord Baltimore....I forgot. All my Anabaptist and Anglican ancestors were fighting because of...the people who persecuted them.

Got it.

Must be weird living in your brain.

Enjoy the straw.

You now have zero credibility, in this area.
