what authority/theory of jurisdiction does the FBI have in a Florida case and how could they violate florida public records law..(they couldn’t and would have lost in court in a new york second)

The Feds obviously have jurisdiction given the national security interests. But not exclusive jurisdiction.

And of course Florida open records laws still apply to the public records of Florida public agencies.

But Florida open records laws do not apply to federal records. And there is probably an exemption under State law for records of a pending investigation.

So the FBI probably had no obligation to make a full release.

But what they did was stupid and bad policy. What's new? I just think it makes it clear beyond doubt that Lynch has no independence in core Justice Department functions.

It makes all of them feel extremely inadequate. Most do not have a clue as the true qualities of a leader.
