In an awkward interview with the Huffington Post, House Speaker Paul Ryan threatened to sue Donald Trump if he were to ban Muslim immigration or build a border wall with Mexico. Considering the current track record of suing Obama over abuses of power, this is little more than a confession of impotence. And yet it’s deeply troubling that a top Republican is willing to go to such lengths to fight for Muslim migration or for that matter illegal immigration in general.

Cruz is being discussed because his refusal to endorse Trump equates to getting on the same train Ryan is on and finding "sensible" ways to help others decide that Trump isn't worth backing and that will result in some thinking they can thwart the will of the People by shenanigans at the Convention. If that happens, Cruz likely has some small hope that he may be the beneficiary of such manipulation.
Jumping on board with those who would weaken Trump against Hilary now is akin to treason in the Party - anything less than an actual and timely endorsement, weakens Trump - the rest is sedition at the candidate level..

It would all depend on how Cruz handled the endorsement. If he mustered all the eloquence, brilliance and debate chops his supporters insist he has, and made the world’s strongest case against Hillary, he’d have his supporters’ attention. Then if he used equal persuasion to argue that Trump is the only practical/doable way to stop Mrs. Clinton, he’d surely hand Trump a big boost.
But the time is NOW. Every day that goes by harms Cruz’ reputation further. If he wants to be a factor in saving the country from Hillary/destruction, he has to get off the dime NOW.

For the record, I don’t think Cruz will endorse Trump while it actually matters. Ted is still hoping for a ‘’miracle’ at the convention. Needless to say, the kind of miracle he wants would spell doom (Hillary) for the rest of us.

Ryan worked for these folks. I sometimes wonder if there was something that unholy was formed out of that group - I recall Limbaugh was a big advocate or at least they were advertisers on his show.
In the middle of the Prop 187 illegal immigration fight back in 1994, Jack Kemp and Bill Bennett flew out to California and sided with the illegal aliens against the voters of California.
