House Republicans are unveiling new proposals to repeal and replace President Barack Obama’s health care law, as Speaker Paul Ryan seeks to showcase a GOP governing agenda amid the tumult of the presidential campaign.

The plan, revealed Wednesday, relies on individual tax credits to allow people to buy coverage from private insurers, and includes other largely familiar GOP ideas such as medical liability reform and expanding access to health savings accounts.

It proposes putting $25 billion behind high-risk pools for people with pre-existing conditions and for others, and transforming the federal-state Medicaid program for the poor by turning it into state block grants or individual per-capita allotments to hold down spending. …

Senate Republicans like Ted Cruz said we needed to elect them into the Senate and House so they can repeal ObamaCare: We did, but they didn’t.

The Republicans can go **** themselves.

Stupid timing, lame plan.

People who don't pay taxes already don't take tax credits and probably don't have HSAs.

This plan only benefits productive elements in our society...grasp the irony??

In 2008 I kept suggesting to every person of influence I could to scrap Obamacare for tax ctedits (and subsidies where appropriate). It is the only logical way to insure coverage for most, leavining patient autonomy intact.

Better late than never haughty elitests in Congress.

You do not seem to understand tax credits. It is money you get taken right off your tax owed. Simple.

You buy insurance. You say how much on tax return.

A dollar for dollar tax credit means your premium paid is deducted from your tax bill.

JUST STOP IT !!!!!!!!!!!

Let people buy health insurance wherever they want

Make ALL medical expences tax-deductible

Make fines for unethical health insurance company behavior astronomical INCLUDING mandatory jail time for insurance fraud (by the company or by the insured)

THAT’S IT

I forgot about the horse they rode in on part, done by voters like me.
There's no way in hell I'll ever vote for a Democrat but I'm deeply ashamed in ever having voted at all.

if these are non-refundable credits, they just reduce the taxpayers liabiity and reduce government cash receipts. if they are refundable, then they take cash from the treasury, and allow the 47% to get bigger payouts at tax time.

But wouldn't people who can't afford medical care be better off getting medical bills paid instead of insurance premiums?

Changes/additions I would make to your points. First, people should be able to purchase the type of coverage they want. For instance, if someone wants to only purchase coverage for in-patient services and none for out-patient, they should be allowed to do so. Others, like me, may want to not have coverage for anything related to maternity, mental health or cancer treatment.

Second, significant insurance fraud is committed by doctors who should be included in the mandatory jail time. A prime example of this is occurring by Medicare providers yet no one in the government seems willing to do anything about it.

I can't vote rat either, but I think Trump is going to shake up the whole system, so I'm hopeful.
