The immediate consequences from the Orlando terror attack are obvious: dozens dead and maimed – families changed forever.
The next layer of consequences, arriving soon, are not as obvious, but they are coming. Here they are:
We are getting a divorce. First, a poll shows that Americans are pretty much divided on their opinions about the attack. Most of the Democrats see it as a gun control issue. Most Republicans see it as a terror attack. And there seems to be no sign of compromise (why can’t it be mostly “terror” and a little “guns?” asks the therapist, Dr. Gutfeld)
This poll hints at an ongoing, disturbing change in this country – one that brings forth a series of even more problems – those of which I see as almost unsolvable. We quarrel about the quarrel. We cannot agree on the fight. And therefore we cannot begin to fight. Instead, we are like that proverbial snake that devours its own tail. Except, we think it’s sushi. But it’s blowfish. This is not new. Only 1/3 of the Patriots backed the Revolution. One-third fought with The Brits (civil war).
In 1812, the only thing that kept us from secession by the Northeastern states was AJ’s victory in New Orleans and the peace treaty. (another civil war).
You could say we had a civil war in the 60s.
We must unite as a people—only a great war or invasion by Martians will do the trick.

In one of my college history classes, the professor said only ten percent of the colonists backed the Revolution. Eighty percent had a don't-care attitude and sat back. A minority of colonists did the actual fighting against the Brits. Another reason why we need to keep Muslims from infiltrating our nation, as it only takes ten percent to foment a rebellion while eighty percent sit on their butts doing very little.
I think it’s higher than 10%. Maybe he meant in NY. In the South, it was easily 1/3, of which the overwhelming number were Scots-Irish.
