A masked gunman has been shot dead by police after storming a German cinema complex and opening fire.
The man entered the cinema complex in Western Germany at about 3pm carrying a gun and munition belt.
The gunman apparently entered the Kinopolis cinema 'Rambo-style' with a gunbelt of cartridges draped across his shoulder and his weapon in his hand.

This isn’t much better, grammatically, than the other article.
Did the gunman storm the cinema or did the police storm the cinema?
This implies there are only 2 reasons for the attack.
I can think of some other possibilities.

Gee....cartridges over his shoulder and a gun in his hand? How could that be in gun free Germany? Or Paris? Or Brussles? But the clueless socialists in our House are sitting on the floor and whimpering about wanting Congress to outlaw guns in the USA. They should be treated as domestic enemies.
I doubt he's a muslim. They don't take hostages, they just kill.

Update - 4.35pm: Police spokesman Bernd Hochstaedter said authorities were told early on Thursday afternoon that an armed man had entered the Kinopolis movie theatre in the town of Viernheim and that shots had apparently been fired. Hesse's interior minister, Peter Beuth, said it was not clear whether the weapon was real. Hochstaedter said that the police deployment lasted around three hours. He said: "We believe that there were no injured people, and that the people who were in the cinema with the perpetrator could be freed uninjured."

German police had their shooter dead in about an hour.
Germany just put the US to shame. Either way, not very good response time when seconds count.
a different article mentions it being a blank gun. the only injuries were from tear gas as the police took the building.
