California voters could decide in November whether to ban ownership of firearm magazines that hold more 10 rounds of ammunition.

The California Secretary of State’s office announced today a ballot measure proposed by Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom has qualified for the next election.

The measure would also require ammunition sellers to obtain licenses and for buyers to undergo background checks. Gun owners would have to report if their weapons are lost or stolen.

Some similar measures are currently making their way through the state Legislature.
