The historic “Brexit” vote has the Texas Nationalist Movement calling on Governor Greg Abbott to support a “Texit.”

“It is past time that the people of Texas had their say on our continued relationship with the Union and its sprawling Federal bureaucracy,” TNM president Daniel Miller posted on the group’s website. “The win for Brexit opens the door for Texit by establishing, concretely, that it is possible to have an adult conversation on independence and letting the people have the final say.”

Too bad the U.S. government's position is in support of "self-determination" for absolutely everyone but Americans.

We tried a STexit 20 years ago but the moochers in the Bronx need Staten Island money too much.

Texas did this once before, in 1861. That didn’t work out too well for Texas.

A friendly word of caution for the people of Texas:

If you do this, and nobody blames you if you do, you will have an immigration problem, and not from the South, if you get my meaning.

Just keep the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers intact!

Right, the U.S. government responded with threats and violence, rather than simply letting one side that voted to leave actually leave.

If Texas voted for a "texit" today, the federal government would respond by sicing the U.S. Army on them.

Why didn’t it work out well? Texas is still a Republic and can leave the Union with no legal repurcussions at all. Now that is not to say that judges and officials can’t make a mess of things. For that matter, I would like to see the entire 50 States break up the federal government, and if they wish to reinstitute a new compact with stronger Constitutional protections, term limits and the death penalty for bribing, and taking bribes for a public servant.

Not true. When Texas became a state it ceased being an independent republic. It is now subject to the same constitutional restraints as every other state.

Imagine what would happen if all the red states walked away and left the deeply indebted Democrat states holding the bag from you entire federal debt. They wouldn’t last a year.

Texas has nuclear weapons now.

DC won’t do squat and no other state will send their national guardsman to fight Texas troops.

Ñot exactly the same.

TX is more integral to the USA than Britain ever would be to the phony latter-day EU.

Not that I begrudge the try, but it’s a bit of a different situation to use as inspiration or encouragement.

The second or third article to pop up since the results of Brexit were announced last night. The authors must be reading us here at FR as this was off-handedly broached in a response or two during the running results post for the elction.

The state of Jefferson support is kicking it up a notch too.
I hope it happens cause CA is going full potato. Sacramento is frothing at the mouth over gun control.

It is time. This country is falling apart.

I'm really glad you weren't influential during the war for independence or the civil war. Snowflake.

The media loves shining the spotlight on the TNM from time to time. Another Emmanuel Goldstein for the left to get worked up about.
