Britain's decision to quit the EU could lead to a summer surge in illegal migrants trying to enter the country from France, the head of Eurotunnel has warned.
Jacques Gounon, the firm's chief executive and chairman, said Brexit had given migrants a "clear signal" that the Anglo-French border would become "a huge wall, similar to the Berlin Wall, almost impossible to overcome".

As long as they are trying to get into the UK it isn’t a French problem. If the French do something, then it becomes a French problem. There is no good, populist way out for the French. So, they do nothing.

The problem is if the French stand by and let the immigrants/invaders board the trains on their side, the Brits will have to figure what to do with them on their side. I doubt if France will willingly take them back (since they’re not French) and Britain will be stuck with feeding and housing them until they can put them on a plane to back where they come from (which won’t take them either). And then the humanitarian lawyers will get involved and the Brits will never get rid of them. Now, if Britain becomes an island again, i.e. closes the tunnel, the problem is solved. I guess it depends on how bad the invasion gets.
actually, I think it's the French and Germans who 'must' take on the consequences of their choice to allow immigrants wholesale to begin with. England was their dumping ground, it's been disasterous for England, financially and socially, so enough is enough. Keep the blighters or send them home but don't send them to England.

Would a few GAU-8’s work as an intermediate deterrent? The brrrrrrrt in a tunnel alone should scare them off.
The Brits would have to stop all the freight traffic, as well. The major issue is that the French have a real problem forcefully confronting the problem. They have made half hearted efforts, but the invaders just move around and rebuild. The French need to round them up and deport them for good, but they, along with most of the EU, just can't do it.
Don’t be surprised if dumping migrants into Britain, to ensure they could never vote themselves out, had been the plan all along.
