CIA chief Brennan looks at Turkish attack and sees a warning for Americans

Four hours after three suicide bombers killed at least 41 people and wounded hundreds more at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport, CIA Director John Brennan said the attacks bore the grim hallmarks of ISIS and warned that the fanatically violent Islamic terrorist group wants to conduct similar large-scale attacks in the United States.

“I am worried from the standpoint of an intelligence professional who looks at the capabilities of Daesh … and their determination to kill as many as people as possible and to carry out attacks abroad,” Brennan said in an exclusive interview at CIA headquarters with Yahoo News. Brennan credited effective homeland security measures and intelligence for the fact that ISIS has been unable to attack America directly — the Orlando and San Bernardino shootings were carried out by radicals inspired by ISIS but not under its control — but he believes the group will keep trying to penetrate American defenses.

“You look at what happened in the Turkish airport, these were suicide vests. It’s not that difficult to actually construct and fabricate a suicide vest … so if you have a determined enemy and individuals who are not concerned about escape, that they are going into it with a sense that they are going to die, that really does complicate your strategy in terms of preventing attacks.”

That right there is a clear example of our CIA intelligence.

It's reassuring to know that our CIA Chief is watching out for us by staying on top of things. < /sarcasm >

They acted like they did not know what was going to happen at the airport.

I do not know how many warnings they had but they still did nothing.

What happened don’t Americans want these jobs? Do refugees get paid less legally or something and they hire them at the minimum wage or less? These jobs used to be done by European and African Americans. Where did those workers go?

"Sad thing is: I predicted this years ago when the new security measures resulted in endless lines at the TSA checkpoints."

TSA lines at airports are just the beginning of the security mess.
ISIS has called for attacks at malls, schools, hospitals,
office buildings, sports events, and on the streets.

The intelligence record of the Obama administration has been one failure after another.

They were warned about the Boston bombers. Nothing was done. They were warned about the Orlando shooter from several sources. The FBI conducted a 10 month investigation and concluded that there was no threat.

They did nothing to prevent the Orlando shooting.

There may have been information about the airport bombing. It sounds more like there were general threats against American civilians in southern Turkey.

Regardless of what information they had, nothing was done to prevent the airport bombing.

Please do not take my posts as in any way praising or excusing this administration....they are scum.

I’ve been on to Brennan since the 08 campaign and the passport record incident. He is one loathsome individual.

As to the recent bombing... Since the administration went through the time, trouble and expense to remove those dependents and re-settle them, given its track record as you have stated, I cannot believe there was only a general threat. There had to be more. Remember, Israel ordered ALL its citizens to leave Turkey. What more was known and what, if anything, was done about it we will never know. I just don’t buy the “no warning” claim.
