NJ Elementary School Calls Cops On Third-Grader For Saying 'Brownie'
Daily Caller ^ | June 29, 2016 | Jim Treacher

Posted on 06/29/2016 4:31:48 PM PDT by Zakeet

In the English language, a certain type of baked chocolate dessert is known as a "brownie." This is very problematic, of course, because a lot of people have brown skin. If you say the word "brownie" out loud, you might hurt the feelings of a person with brown skin. And that's bad. That's why we have the police.

On June 16, police were called to an unlikely scene: an end-of-the-year class party at the William P. Tatem Elementary School in Collingswood.

A third grader had made a comment about the brownies being served to the class. After another student exclaimed that the remark was "racist," the school called the Collingswood Police Department, according to the mother of the boy who made the comment.

"I'm not comfortable with the administration [at Tatem]. I don't trust them and neither does my child," she said. "He was intimidated, obviously. There was a police officer with a gun in the holster talking to my son, saying, 'Tell me what you said.' He didn't have anybody on his side."

Stunning

“”I have never before heard of the word “brownie” as being a racial epithet and can’t for the life of me understand why it would be.””

Makes as much sense as students on some college campus recently demanding a name change for a building on campus - they objected to the name LYNCH! Don’t think anyone has suggested that the AG change her name but in light of tonight’s news of her meeting in private with Bill Clinton, she’ll probably wish she could change her name or just vanish from sight!! Well, no problem, toots - we wish the same for you!

One wrong bite into a gun shape, and it's BATF swat teams burning them alive.

Did they at least charge the criminal that violated the child's 1st amendment RIGHT?

OK OK, you’re right. Dark is offensive.

I did not mean to offend anyone who might have non-bright appearing skin. Next time you cook up some of those tasty non-bright appearing treats, do not call them that B word. Call them non-bright sugary squares. Just avoid the B word to describe them.

My beloved Daddy(WW2 and Korean War Vet, now deceased), whose nickname was “Whitey” due to his last name being “White” was teaching a class of new recruits to the Telephone Company who had just been hired due to a “Consent Decree” as a part of Affirmative Action. He faced the room of Negro men and blithely announced:

“Good Morning! I will be your Safety Instructor, as your job involves many dangerous situations; falls, electric shock, asphyxiation, and workplace accidents. You will learn First Aid and Life-Saving Procedures, CPR, and Safety Precautions.

My name is Mr. White,

But you can just call me “Whitey”.

What law does a law enforcement agency follow to even respond to a call like this - let alone do anything about it?

This makes as much sense as the story about a month ago when students on some college campus objected to the name of a building there - LYNCH! I haven’t heard anyone suggest that AG Lynch change her name tho’ in light of her private meeting today with Bill Clinton (as reported tonight on Greta), she may wish she could just fade away. We wish the same for you, toots!

Sorry - I thought it hadn’t posted. Have to say that I don’t put too much stock in retaining sanity for any of us by the time November rolls around!

Yeah, Good. That's an evil, hateful, racist word.

I always thought G.W. Bush should have been arrested for his "Heckuva job, Brownie" after Hurricane Katrina, too.

I got it... “Earth tone” appearing treats. Then again, that may be interpreted by the filthy among us as being dirty.

There's quite a bit more to this story than the Daily Caller suggests. Apparently the local prosecutor's office is ultimately behind what happened.

It seems that back in May, the local prosecutor held a meeting with police and the school district and told school officials they were to call police for even the smallest incidents, including something like name-calling.

A Philadephia Inquirer story says this change might have resulted from a high school incident that wasn't immediately reported.

Now after taking a lot of heat, the prosecutor is saying the directive was "misunderstood":

The increased police involvement follows a May 25 meeting among the Collingswood Police Department, school officials, and representatives from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, where school officials and police both said they were told to report to police any incidents that could be considered criminal, including what Police Chief Kevin Carey called anything "as minor as a simple name-calling incident that the school would typically handle internally."

The police and schools were also advised that they should report "just about every incident" to the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency, Carey said.

Previously, the school district, following the state's Memorandum of Agreement Between Education and Law Enforcement Officials, had only reported incidents it deemed serious...

"It was a pretty clear directive that we questioned vehemently," Oswald said.

But a month after the meeting, and after police investigations that parents consider fruitless had begun to gain attention, Maley wrote in a public letter that the May 25 meeting was intended to "reinforce the applicability" of the MOA, "not to expand its terms"...

Maley said in an interview Tuesday that there had been a "misunderstanding" during the May 25 meeting. But Oswald said the Prosecutor's Office was shying away from its own instructions.

"Why police were called to a South Jersey third-grade class party," Philadelphia Inquirer

There must be more to this story.

The more to this story is that for the previous month they called the police on average of five times per day. These are elementary school students!

And they call Children Protective Services to boot.

Cop: “What did you say?”

Kid: “I said I wanted a brownie.”

Cop: “Well, that seems reasonable. In fact, I’d like one myself! Say, these are unusual! What kind of nuts is that?”

Kid: “Nigg. . . .”
Teacher: “Brazil nuts! They’re Brazil nuts!”

Dispatch: 1 Adam 12, 1 Adam 12, see the hysterical school administrators at William P. Tatem School, respond code 3. Be advised the suspect is an 8 year old and possibly a member of the Aryan Nations. 1 Adam 12 copy?

Funny true story,,,,,
25 years ago when my oldest daughter was 5 years old.....she had a new friend that was black.....
It was around the holidays and she wanted to get a Christmas gift for her friend....
We were not sure of her religion so we asked our daughter if she was Jewish.....
She thought for a long minute then replied, “No, she’s kinda brownish”

Headline: Is it racist to call them ‘jimmies’?

Summer is here, which means reviving the contentious debate over whether or not a favorite ice cream topping’s name has racist origins.

Yes, there is. Police referred the incident to the state's child protective services.
