My husband works for a small healthcare company and this is a concern. If someone comes in for, let’s say, allergy problems and is dressed like a man but doesn’t disclose they were born as a female, then the doctor can’t ask questions such as “When was your last pap smear?” The patient may develop cervical or breast cancer because their doctor wasn’t aware of their true gender.
