Ted Cruz endorses Marco Rubio’s re-election

A onetime opponent is throwing his support behind Marco Rubio.

On Wednesday, Sen. Ted Cruz said he was “glad to support” Rubio in his re-election bid. Cruz, a Texas Republican, was one of more than a dozen Republicans who ran for president earlier this year.

“Marco Rubio is a friend and has been an ally in many battles we have fought together in the Senate. I’m glad to support him in his bid for re-election,” he said in a Facebook post shortly after Rubio’s announcement. “Marco is a tremendous communicator and a powerful voice for the American Dream. At this time of great challenges, we very much need strong leaders in the Senate who will fight to restore economic growth, to defend our constitutional liberties, and to ensure a strong national security for our nation.”

According to Elaina Plott with the Washingtonian, Rubio reached out to Cruz to confirm he intended to run. The Washingtonian reported Rubio asked Cruz to send out a statement urging the Miami Republican to run for re-election, but Cruz declined because he didn’t want to be seen as pushing Rep. Ron DeSantis out of the race.

Rubio also appeared to get support from Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich, another one-time presidential opponent. In a tweet Wednesday, Kasich said “keeping (Rubio) serving in the Senate is good news for the people of FL & our entire nation. Good luck, Marco!”

That says a lit, doesn’t it? I’m glad I quit backing Cruz when Trump started talking about the wall and deportation, and Cruz was deafeningly silent.

“That the extremely moral Sessions picked Trump over Cruz (and Rubio) is telling. “

And Sessions hasn’t endorsed a single candidate in a presidential primary in his 30 years in the Senate - until now. Means he thinks a lot of Trump.

The Donal won, after calling every one of his opponents who are REPUBLICAN party members some name or other. Are these Trumpsters in need of more name calling? or Psychiatric treatment?

Ted Cruz PERSONALLY smeared 14 million Trump voters as “Low info”. Given that, why should Trump supporters EVER support Cruz again? BTW, since Trump is supposed to apologize for the rough campaign where is the apology for that insult from Cruz?

The principled conservative assists the cheap labor express.

You’ve got it backwards. The Cheap Labor Express is now “principled conservationism” in our upside down political world.

I withdrew my many year support of Ted Cruz when his dishonestly campaigned for Obama’s TPA. What a month of lies that was from Team Cruz.

Then later that summer Kate Steinle was killed and Trump was Horatius at the Bridge while the GOP retreated to their secure compounds. That’s when I went all in for Trump.

I voted for Romney, but it was a tough call. Had I not voted for Romney, I would have understood that I was willing to avoid doing what I could to keep Obama from winning his second term. I would have been in essence supporting him. There are times when I might do that (I supported voting for the Democrat in the Kentucky senate race for example, and I would support voting for the Democrat in Ryan's district, if Nehlen can't pull it off.)

Those who refuse to vote for Trump, and to some extent, those who can't stand him and come here to vociferously talk him down even while claiming that they will vote for him, are supporting Hillary for President. It's not even debatable, in spite of your protests.

My gosh, that's exactly what *I was thinking!

How much hubris and humiliation can Cruz supporters on FR accept before LEAVING (and must normal people would profusely apologize on their way out.)

How much reality can they ignore about Cruz? For any normal patriot or conservative, there have been about 100 "final straw" moments with Cruz, and this is just another.

More support of the Gang of Eight by Cruz and by the Cruzers on FR despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary available easily on the Internet and posted extensively on FR.

Don't bother apologizing, Cruzers. Just LEAVE. And don't come back. You've embarrassed us on FR for so long. You've tried to hijack FR to promote your causes of globalism, North American Union, cheap labor express, countless new immigrants, TPP, TPA, amnesty, all the while insulting the patriots here with your bs.

With all the Establishment, Washington insiders, no-information voters and globalists gone from FR, it will be stronger than ever. Can you imagine how many people have found FR for the first time in the last year and stumbled upon the ignorant and blatantly false portrayals of Cruz by the Cruzbots here? And they would have thought this was a United Nations or WTO or CFR site, more like Salon than like FR really is.

If they'd ONLY made a MEAGER attempt at reviewing history and the Cruz family track record----but the Cruzlims here took a perverted PRIDE in vituperatively attacking non-Cruz supporters without once attempting to learn any of the truth about Cruz.

Long live FR. Long live the USA. Down with the North American Union, the EU, CFR, Ted and Heidi. Move over for the patriots of the United States of American not loyal to Canada or borderless world governments.

You fanned on the essence of my "protest".

All the Trumpists who refused to vote for Romney (you weren't one, evidently) insisted they weren't supporting Obama in the process.

But, now, if a conservative doesn't support Trump...

FRiend, a “conservative” not supporting the one person who can keep the Butcher of Benghazi out of the White House is not a patriot or conservative. A person who depresses support for Trump to the benefit of Hillary is not a conservative or patriot. It’s that simple.

This is picture perfect... IIRC it was party boy Rubio that was the FIRST to call lying Ted a LIAR... And I keep reading the Cruzbots blame Trump.... AND there is much hand wringing accusing Trump of ‘slandering’ the sainted Cruz, about his many women... However, it was the Rubio camp that unearthed Cruz's play pretties...

Cruz and Rubio deserve each other and time has come to strip both of them of anything ‘conservative’.... They are self-serving want-a-be bjClinton.

good.

Now we need these guys to get behind DJT.

This girl fighting in the GOP is pathetic. Embarrassing. We face a singular danger in Hitlery.

The SCOTUS is on the brink of becoming full blown fascist.

Stop. Just stop.

I voted for both lord McCain and liberal Romney. I know what the word ‘conservative’ literally means, and I recognize when con men use and abuse its meaning. I have NO clue where you are getting your ‘data’ about people who refused to vote for Romney now support Trump, but I think you are way off base. Most of the anti-Romney, stay at home voters, are in the Cruz camp... AND the same application applies today as did during the liberal Romney campaign... Stay home and it was a vote for Obama.... Cruz refusing to keep his pledge demonstrates he is a ‘con’ man for political self gain.

They may not be supporting Trump and might be planning to sit on their hands...or vote for a 3rd party. But that's not the same thing as supporting Hillary.

These people are dumb and crazy, having already proven their pathological nature by continuing to support Cruz even after his pathological lying on things like his support for legalization of illegals. Cruz supporters who refute to get behind Trump are indeed Hillary supporters, and scum, who should be cleansed from the party in the same way they wanted to cleanse Trump supporters. I still remember these dumb ***holes calling for mass zots on FR for Trump supporters. Now they're the ones living in fear, desperation, on the fringes, just waiting in terror of the inevitable roach spray.

Ya got it all wrong okie.

For decades millions have stopped voting because of decades of utter corruption and government fraud. Failed foreign policies creating a debt of death, violent open borders, controlling over reaching government in every direction, dangerous chain immigration, trade deals only our enemies would love. Nearly all of these lawyer politicians are brought and paid for by the globalist insiders. They own these puppets. Bought and paid for. This goes for McCain, Obama, Bush and this Romney fraud.

They ought to be forced to wear NASCAR style suits so we know who their corrupt corporate sponsors are..$$$

No more of the same. Repeat as necessary.
