No it’s not too simple and sraightforward to let states decide issues such as marijuana legalization.

I was trying to address it from the standpoint that these drugs are dangerous if used recklessly, and that there are reasons why we made certain drugs illegal in the first place.

If we want to be strictly libertarian, then every state should make everything legal if their citizens decide to do so. If there’s no other considerations, then that’s what should be done.

I’m clearly a minority here, but, just saying, drug addiction/drug abuse cost our society dearly, and there are other considerations besides the 10th amendment and libertarian ideology.

i smoke neither cigarettes or pot, but at $1 per gram plus taxes, it looks like an ounce of pot will cost about the same as a carton of cigarettes.

If the price was so low that the black market didn't exist or was greatly reduced, it would be much harder for kids to get cannabis.

Well at such low prices it would be a lot easier for any lowlife to afford marijuana and re-sell it to kids for a profit.

If you really want to learn more

Watch Reefer Madness. Better yet, talk to some of your local pot smoking wastrels. A short (say, 2min) conversation should be enough for any sane person to establish that they don't want to become like them.

(although I'm doubtful you want to take an objective look at the subject) I recommend reading a book called Weed the People.

Yes, I need to research pot and potheads immediately. I have to put that molecular dynamics kinetic theory project on the side for now.

I was trying to address it from the standpoint that these drugs are dangerous if used recklessly, and that there are reasons why we made certain drugs illegal in the first place.

There are also reasons why we have the War on Poverty and Obamacare. The reasons have nothing to do with poverty or health care.

There were no 'illegal' drugs at the Federal level in this country until the Progressives took control. National drug prohibition was put in place for the same reason as the War on Poverty and ObamaCare.

I’m clearly a minority here, but, just saying, drug addiction/drug abuse cost our society dearly, and there are other considerations besides the 10th amendment and libertarian ideology.

What do you mean by 'other considerations besides the Tenth Amendment'?

Maybe you should also say that there are other considerations besides the Fourth and Fifth Amendments, since the Drug War has trampled those, too.

10% to 20% of teenagers smoke pot. That's a pretty big demand right there.

“Because as we know from the FR dope smokers, even Nobel physics laureates and Millenium prize winners owe their success to regular drug use.”

You could probably make a case that one winner of the Nobel peace prize owes his success to regular drug use, or at least it hasn’t prevented his success.

If this does pass it’s going to kill the pot side of the drug trafficking trade and all of the crime and violence that goes with it.

Two major weed growing operations...cartels...busted in NoCal and So Oregon this week.

If kids liked spinach they'd be able to grow it for nothing. I could buy weed in homeroom during prohibition. I'm sure LSD is still available in nearly every high school in America.

I could buy weed in homeroom during prohibition. And reefer madness didn't eat your mind away.

Ever heard of seeds? Ever try to grow bag seeds that matured in your climate? Guerrilla gardening isn't for the typical snowflake.
