I want a Trump II, not a woman to meet some PC status.

White man, successful, determined to carry on the Trump legacy.

Then you will lose the election.

But, by golly, you didn’t move one millimeter from your principals! That’s what counts! /s

Sounds like Donald J. Trump, Jr. to me! ;-) Then we could have eight years of Eric Trump, followed by eight years of Ivanka Trump. Or it could be in any other order. ;-)

Do your homework

"Ernst has proposed eliminating the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Education, and the Environmental Protection Agency as a means of cutting federal spending. She has advocated eliminating the Department of Education "not just because it would save taxpayer dollars, but because I do believe our children are better educated when it's coming from the state."

Ernst has expressed her support for allowing law-abiding citizens to "freely carry" weapons but abide by rules against carrying in public buildings like schools. In February 2013, Ernst co-sponsored a resolution addressing "the Iowa General Assembly's refusal to recognize or support any statutes, presidential directives, or other regulations and proclamations which conflict with the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States and which are expressly preempted by the rulings of the United States Supreme Court”. She has also received an "A" rating from the National Rifle Association for her support of gun-rights issues."

"Ernst served as a lieutenant colonel in the logistics branch, commanding the 185th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion at Camp Dodge, the largest battalion in the Iowa Army National Guard. Upon her retirement from the military in 2015, Ernst had served 23 years between the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard. She spent 14 months in Kuwait in 2003–04 as a company commander during the Iraq War."

I’ll take talented, skillful, and with a working moral compass where I can find them.

Appointing some because they are a woman or of some race, and barring them because they are not, are each both stupid and wasteful.

There are currently 21 US Senators who vote more conservative than Ernst.

She isn’t the worst by a long shot, but she truly has not proven to be that conservative.

But she would be a women on the ticket.

What a person says to get elected, and what they do afterward are often not within the same universe. This is the general rule of late.

Ernst certainly sounded more conservative while she was running for the senate.

We need strong knowledgeable and true Statesmen at this time in our country!

It is understandable that our candidate would look at all of his strategic options, which would include how to win over moderate women voters. However, all things moderate is not what our country or conservatives need right now.

It is also true he may be trying to appease the RNC establishment. Moderate Republicans (RINO’s) have remained one of the most important reasons our country and freedom have been brought to the very brink of destruction!

I do not believe conservative voters will respond well in the future to compromise, when our nations is already in a death spiral socially and economically.

I am sure both of these are under consideration.

While certainly Republican, Ernst is not in the truly conservative Republican echelon.

If Trump picks Ernst, we will have a more moderate presidency.

How the ticket and presidency is defined as moderate or conservative will be determined by the degree to which a person is liberal, moderate, or conservative to begin with.

Many who would call themselves “conservative” today are more liberal socially and economically than some Democrats in the previous generation. So a more liberal Republican would consider a more moderate Republican who compromises with the social and economic agenda of the left, to be more conservative than himself.

One who fully recognizes the unbreakable link and necessity between high moral values and economy, and high moral values and freedom is likely a real conservative.

We shall see how this all unfolds -

That’s not how you win elections - having a woman on the ticket is a great idea given Trump’s negatives among that cohort and also to blunt the coming “historic” Hillary-Warren ticket.
