Donald Trump, speaking in North Carolina, just praised deposed Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein as a killer of terrorists, noting that Hussein “didn’t read them the rights” before executing them.

“Saddam Hussein was a bad guy, right? He was a bad guy. Really bad guy,” Trump begins. “But you know what he did well? He killed terrorists. He did that so good. They didn’t read them the rights, they didn’t talk. They were a terrorists - it was over. Today, Iraq is Harvard for terrorism.”

Hussein was labelled a major sponsor of terrorism by the American government for decades, a status that was a major plank in the rationale to invade Iraq in 2003.

Trump needs to parse his thoughts better....” But you know what he did well?” Was unnecessary and leaves him open to moronic headlines like in this article....

He could have left that part out and it would not changed the point he was making...

i agree....its time to admit that the Iraq war was a disaster. certain peoples just dont care about freedoms and democracy....Vietnam comes to mind. Horrible waste of the lives of great Americans...and trillions of dollars. Some animals just need dictators to keep the lid on. Sad but true.

Trump was absolutely right. Iraq was NOT responsible for 9/11!! The Saudis were!! Why did we attack Iraq? Give me a reason!! WE ATTACKED THE WRONG DAMNED COUNTRY THAT NEVER HAD WMD!! THEY NEVER DID A THING TO US!! We spent 5000 American soldiers lives and 40,000 American wounded. 300,000 Iraqi citizens slaughtered . FOR WHAT? We didn’t even take their oil. This is the chickens coming home folks.

Saddam was anti-terrorist like Assad and Rouhani are anti-terrorist. You can be against war and Iraq, dumb as that is, without touting Saddam as an anti-terrorist. He was definitely not:

“Saddam’s interest in, and support for, non-Iraqi non-state actors was spread across a wide variety of revolutionary, liberation, nationalist, and Islamic terrorist organizations. For years, Saddam maintained training camps for foreign ‘fighters’ drawn from these diverse groups. In some cases, particularly for Palestinians, Saddam was also a strong financial supporter. Saddam supported groups that either associated directly with al-Qaeda (such as the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, led at one time by bin Laden’s deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri) or that generally shared al-Qaeda’s stated goals and objectives.”[6]

Trump needs better advice and better communications strategy.

Stop clutching your pearls...he knows exactly what he is doing. He is stealing the headline and keeping his name in the news. It’s what he did the entire primary circuit.

Honestly. Do you think anything Trump states will be construed, reported on, conveyed, in any accurate fashion by the MSM (Pravda) press?

What we need to do is follow international laws and not illegally attack foreign countries at a cost of thousands of lives and bodies and 2 trillion dollars FOR NOTHING!!It was a disaster . It is why we are where we are. Obama would have never been elected but for this massive blunder. There were no wmd. right? ts is the greatest blunder in the history of the U.S.A.

Saddam said he was planning to restart WMD after the sanctions were lifted and the heat was off. A few other reasons:
