With this in mind, he could end up in ‘Fort Marcy Park’ with a gun in his ‘right’ hand and a bullet in the back of his head; or he could be coming out of a room into a ‘stairwell’ and have his ‘neck broken’ or he could be ‘lifting barbells’ and have them drop on his throat....

I think his motives are simpler than that. Comey got appointed because he is pro-Obama. He has convinced himself that it would set a terrible precedent and be wrong for the FBI to appear to be a deciding factor in a Presidential election.
Of course, ignoring the law and letting a guilty candidate skate despite overwhelming evidence, equally constitutes being a potential deciding factor in a Presidential election. He wants Hillary to win.
