Report: Corrine Brown facing federal indictment
Politico ^ | 7-7-16 | Matt Dixon

Florida Rep. Corrine Brown has been indicted and will be appear in federal court in Jacksonville on Friday, according to First Coast News.

The Jacksonville television station, citing "multiple sources," said the indictment remains sealed.

It had been known publicly since March that Brown, a Democrat, was facing a Department of Justice Investigation related to "fraudulent activities," and whether or not she improperly solicited charitable donations and misused campaign funds. DOJ officials asked the House Ethics Committee to halt a separate investigation while they conducted their probe.

The target of the investigation has not been identified, but Brown does have links to the head of a charity who pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and agreed to cooperate with the feds. Court documents mention a public official, identified only as "person A." In addition, Brown was also served with a federal subpoena in January.

I hear it’s a valid excuse now.

I’m sure she didn’t mean to commit fraud.

She’s barely conscious, so clearly incapable of intent.

Yes; should be known hereafter as the “Hillary Defense.”

Like her or not, she represents her constituents. Elsewhere here locally in N. Florida, not so much.

My first thought as well.

She must have neglected to pay someone off.

She should have stolen twice as much, and then split it.

She should just say she is too stupid to understand what fraud is. Give her a dictionary and a do over

What percentage of the Congressional Black Caucus has been either indicted or under active federal criminal investigation. It’s got to be something like 15%.

Per usual, when naming a democrat facing charges, the name is preceded with “Rep”.

When a democrat is being praised, the name is always followed by (D).

According to Comey today, Hillary wasn’t sophisticated enough to know what she was doing was wrong.

Ignorance of the Law is now the Hillary Defense so this gal ought to be the first to try it out

Oh thank the Lord!
I live in her district and thru two or three court ordered redistrictings we still were always in a small sliver of land either between downtown Jacksonville to Orlandos’ central core...to where the new fifth district goes over to Tallahassee...
They can’t get rid of the district because of racial quotas or some such malarky...

I do too. One time I called my rep and thought it was John Mica and they said “Your rep is Corrine Brown. Do you want her number?” I said “Are you kidding me? No thanks!”
