Hence the reason Cruz would bring 0 votes. You're going to vote for Trump (OK, against Hillary) anyway. Making you feel better about it doesn't add any votes to Trump's tally.
Trump's job RIGHT NOW isn't to ease your voting pain, it's to win.
IMHO, Trump should not follow the conventional wisdom, which would be to either move to the center (as Romney & both Bush's did) or add a VP to unite the party (as Reagan did).
What he should do is double down on what got him this far: running as the anti-establishment candidate.
That means thinking outside the box & picking someone as unconventional (and hated by the establishment) as himself.
And no, Ted Cruz does not fit that description. After the second half of the primary, when Cruz brought on Bush's people and was endorsed by virtually every GOP establishment type (even Lindsey Graham) Ted can no longer claim to be and anti-establishment candidate.
And now Trump is bringing in the Cruz staffers You take talent where yo can find it I don’t care if it’s Cruz or not but Trump needs a conservative on the ticket or a great deal of the base will stay home
