FROM THE TAMPA BAY TIMES

Donald Trump will deliver a policy speech Friday in his first visit to Miami in more than eight months.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee will speak at 2:30 p.m. at the Royal Poinciana ballroom of the DoubleTree Hotel Miami Airport & Convention Center at 711 NW 72nd Ave. His campaign posted the event on the schedule portion of Trump’s website.

“This event is closed to the general public,” the site says.

The topic of the speech is unclear.

Earlier, Trump plans to meet with a small group of local community leaders, including politicians and fundraisers, the Miami Herald has learned.

Trump’s trip comes a little more than a week before the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. He hasn’t been in Florida, the nation’s largest swing state and a key battleground for Republicans to win the presidency, since June 11, when he rallied supporters in Tampa.

The last Trump campaigned in Miami was in October, when he held a well-attended rally at his Trump National Doral golf resort. He had scheduled another Doral rally for two days before the March 15 Florida primary but called it off to spend more time in Ohio. Trump ended up losing Ohio but crushing his rivals in Florida, where he won the primary with 46 percent of the vote and forced the end of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s candidacy.

Rubio told CNN Wednesday he might meet with Trump on Friday in Miami. But Rubio’s office also said Wednesday that Rubio, who is now campaigning for re-election to the Senate, won’t attend the upcoming convention.

Miami, with its majority Hispanic population, has emerged as a cradle of Republican skepticism over Trump, who has repeatedly upset Latinos with his comments about Mexicans, a border wall and an Indiana judge of Hispanic descent.

Two of three local members of Congress — Reps. Carlos Curbelo and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen — have said they won’t vote for him (or for presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton). Neither will Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado. Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez refuses to talk about the presidential race — but it’s Clinton’s campaign that’s trying to woo him, offering to let him meet Saturday with campaign manager Robby Mook, who will be in town to open a Clinton field office in Wynwood.

Trump has yet to inaugurate a Miami campaign office.

I wonder if it will be postponed because of last nights killing of 5 cops in Dallas.

Donald Trump should say nothing about the Dallas shootings. Other than to say, “I am so sad about where we have come in this country. I feel so sorry about state of America where people just don’t seem to know any more the difference between right and wrong. Or they just don’t care. I feel for the family’s of all the victims. And worry that we are in a much worse place than we were 7 years ago.”

I hope he uses the time to really talk to the issue of the fears we all face and how his policies will turn things around. He should be the real Donald Trump....a mature grandpa who loves his family and his nation, and wants us all to feel safe and secure about the future. Let everyone experience the wisdom he's acquired in seven decades of life well lived.

Trump upsets the right people. He’s very popular with the good Hispanics.

Trump said that he would be releasing a list of speakers for the convention. I expected to see that list yesterday.

While events in Dallas last night are most newsworthy, I don;t think he'd use that as a reason to postpone or cancel his speech this afternoon.

Morning all. What a night.
Glen who is running for office in CO. And Hucklebee is really laying it on BHO.
My morning thought in response to F&F
What should we expect from a black democrat community organizer with an agenda? January can’t come fast enough!

Obama already has. Obama on Dallas: 'Vicious, calculated, despicable attack on law enforcement' - CNNPolitics.com

The President also made an implicit call for tighter gun restrictions, saying the carnage could have been mitigated if the killer or killers weren't carrying powerful weapons.

"Today is a wrenching reminder of the sacrifices they make for us," Obama said of law enforcement officers. "We also know when people are armed with powerful weapons, unfortunately, it makes attacks like these more deadly and more tragic."

People are out of work...What? 50% among blacks? YOu have absolutely no family nucleus in the black communities...stripped apart with the social engineering of Jessie Jackson and the rest.

Clinton might even try to blame the anger on Trump.

I agree with what is written here. Trump needs to set his speech aside, and speak 15 to 20 minutes about what is happening in this country.

We are a divided nation. With Hillary it will be more divided. I will never ever follow her.

I don’t think his speech should be canceled, but he should tread very lightly on topic of the violence in Dallas. Trump has a knack for using a sledge hammer to fix a Swiss watch.
