U.S. Capitol on lockdown after report of woman entering with gun (Update: All Clear)

The U.S. Capitol was locked down Friday morning after reports that a woman entered one of the House office buildings with a gun.

Police sent a message to those on the Capitol campus that the U.S. Capitol Building and Capitol Visitor Center are on "LOCKDOWN until further notice due to police activity. Update to follow."

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., declared the House in recess and canceled a 9:15 vote.

Read on Twitter a staffer attempted to enter with a gun. Haven’t seen it confirmed.

We had it happen several times at the Nuclear plant where I worked.

The staff carried but sometimes they get all the way to security and they REMEMBERED.

I know one case where the admin member got through security with a loaded gun then TURNED HERSELF IN! Talk about stupid. Quietly walk back to your car (their was little to no screening when you left) and put the weapon there. Then come back in.

It got so bad that they finally said "The next person gets fired." Then the mistakes stopped.
