Let's start slow here, before the messenger gets shot.

Just consider the last phrase: "the level of additional risk". I think most people who have posted on this thread would actually agree that members of the black community face higher risk than whites OF BEING ACCOSTED OR KILLED BY ANOTHER BLACK!

Let that sink in! How would you like to have to live your life with that type of risk from you own community?

The next step is to realize that even though you, as a black person, might actually feel safer around whites due to the above, any notion you might have in this regard is stifled by the reality that the whites with which you come in contact are also quite aware of the higher crime rate of the black community, in general, and this translates into them treating YOU with suspicion.
