BALLWIN, MO (KTVI)- A police officer is listed in critical, stable condition after being shot during a traffic stop Friday in west St. Louis County. It happened shortly before 11 a.m. in the 300 block of New Ballwin Road, in Ballwin, MO. The officer sustained a wound to the neck.
The officer, who works for the Ballwin Police Department, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Officials say the officer was at the traffic stop and approached the suspect vehicle. As he returned back to his squad car, the suspect exited his vehicle and fired three shots.

Undercover citizens might not prevent the officer from being targeted, but.... the perp gets fingered, that’s for certain, and the cops get their space covered, from outside the bubble, if and when there is any suspicious activity around them.

I had just read that in Dallas there had been a string of exits, from the police force. I mean in the last several days, or two weeks.
Some won’t be ready to return immediately. Some won’t return at all. And who knows what caliber of replacements will the force bring in, and who are they? It’s creepy, to think about when the place goes lawless for lack of enforcement.
We will be defending our own homes.
There is no “extremely” in the word critical. Ever.
Critical is the polar opposite of “stable”, so it is absolutely impossible to be both.
So. This means we know nothing about the officer’s condition, in this ignorant title, due to this illiterate writer.
Actually one can be critical but fairly stable Someone with pneumonia on a ventilator is certainly critical but can be relatively stable and expected to improve. Someone else who has already had 2 cardiac arrests in the last hour and is hanging on by a thread is also critical - but in a whole different situation
Your kind reply describes intensive care terms, but not the original meaning and use of the word, “critical”.
I have heard of critical-with-no-change. Never critical-stable. Ridiculous.
If they are “expected to improve” they are down graded to stable, and no longer critical.
Somehow, I am not surprised. Language and standards have deteriorated along with everything else. This affects meaning. All things are relative. Thanks, mmd.
