Yup. It’s a few. Not enough to matter, and a sure-site better taken care of outside the state legislature and with the example reminding candidates to actually pay attention to the rules.

This issue rewards candidates who have a strong ground game, and potentially hurts those that don’t. The strength of the ground game is just one of many indirect things that the process measures, as part of selecting someone who can carry that forward into a national Presidential election. Why do you think that delegate totals for states aren’t purely democratic? They reward guys who can win swing states. They reward guys who can run a real nuts and bolts campaign and keep it going, not just someone who can ride a momentary wave of emotion on this or that. Trump botched some of these, but still was solid enough that it won’t make a hill of beans. He showed that he was resilient enough that he could overcome other candidates riding a local wave here and there. Sure, he’ll get dinged a few delegates for not paying attention to detail, and blowing off the mechanics in a few states, but it’s not enough to hurt him. It’ll only serve as a warning to the future.

Now changing the rules for him after the fact - that would be unfair.

I'm not speaking to the text of ruling, I'm speaking to the effectiveness of the complaint.

We have a body of delegates who are putting themselves above the people, declaring that their right to vote their conscience is more important then the right of the people of the state to bind their representatives to the majority's wishes.

For political reasons, the court is tampering with the Republican primary process in a way that invites chaos instead of remedy; it's not the delegate who was harmed when they knew in advance what their obligation was, it's the primary voter who is harmed by the faithless delegate who wishes to nullify the results of primary.

So I say that the delegate, in the case of a candidate achieving the majority, is an anachronism no longer serving a purpose in the nominating process. The court is forcing the wishes of the delegate onto the voter, when properly the wishes of the voter should be forced onto the delegate (which was the current state).

The court is just trying to disrupt and mess with the Republicans, because it can.

SCOTUS would at best deadlock 4-4.

I'm not so sure about that...

The SCOTUS has always been loath to inject itself into the voter's political processes...

This ruling is pretty damn brazen to overturn a political process 150 years in the making...

I think they might shut it down by overruling simply to not have to deal with everything that comes after it...

If not overturned every state has carte blanche to change long standing and legally binding rules to fit a particular political agenda...

Who knows what type of crap the libtards will come up with to manipulate the process...

I don't think SCOTUS wants to turn that kettle of dead fish over...

Of course I could be wrong and it's going to be a interesting convention after all..

Marvelous recourse taken against a shill for Cruz, willing to dump the primary vote, in favor of their own self righteousness.

The Republican National Convention will be a bloodbath if the nomination is stolen from Trump.

Cleveland will be bloody next week either way. The Dem rent-a-mob is calling their "protest" of the RNC Convention "The Summer of Chaos".

Then it’s shady if not outright fraud to claim a candidate won the state, but it’s only a win for that day. Publisher’s Clearinghouse has more integrity. The political parties may be private organizations, but they are deeply intertwined with our government. If they want to make crap up as they go, then they should not be allowed access to any government office or given special favors. They can be just like a feckless book club, or like PCH, schlocking overpriced Chinese crap.

Well now it would appear that the new ruling on VA delegates will throw some cold water on these Cruz renegades.

There is absolutely no point in having elections if they are able to vote how they want. If the party doesn’t respect my vote, then I am done with the party. I will enjoy their big loss in November.

The people of Virginia did not vote for these delegates in any form.

These Delegates become delegates by following the process.
They simply ttended their precinct meeting in their neighborhood. There is where they became delegates there to their county convention.

They attended their County Convention and became delegates to their State Convention, and from there they were elected by the other delegates in the room assigned to their district, at the State Convention. Those elected at State are the delegates to National Convention.

TRUMP supporters largely did not show up at their precinct meeting, or we would not be in this fix. The few TRUMP supporters who did show up throughout the process, were so outnumbered by other candidates (Cruz) we could not get nominated as a delegate, never mind elected, as a delegate to National Convention.

What is Cruz’ hold up? It’s embarrassing to have silence from Cruz, at a time we are going into a convention full of his idiotic sycophants who want to pull shenanigans. They are doing their crap in his name.

He likes it. Has to. Or else, he would put a firm stop to it.

Cruz won’t stop until he is forced out with TRUMP’s nomination. Cruz thinks he’s still in it.
