Even if Donald Trump does not pick Newt Gingrich as his running mate, the former U.S. House Speaker may still have a job in the billionaire's administration.
Trump is considering picking Gingrich for a top national security post should he be elected president, according to two people familiar with the the candidate's thinking.
A longtime backer of Trump's campaign, Gingrich was added to the short list of vice presidential candidates in May. While Trump could still ask Gingrich to join the ticket, his focus has narrowed in recent days to Indiana Governor Mike Pence and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the Washington Post reported on Monday.
A national-security role in a potential Trump administration could be a good fit for Gingrich. He holds a doctorate in European history and is known for his intellectual curiosity. In Congress, he immersed himself in military affairs and intelligence issues, and in 2001 he was named by then-President George W. Bush to serve as a member of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board. Like Trump, Gingrich is a staunch critic of the the U.S. nuclear deal with Iran.

SOS- Gingrich, I think that would be a great fit. Flynn for defense. I am not sure about Pence for VP. I would like to see someone that is young enough to carry on after President Trump finishes his term and also someone who agrees with Trump on trade. I don’t think Pence agrees with Trump on trade.
I think there’s only a handful of people who truly know and they ain’t talking lest they be fired.
How old do you think Pence is?
You might want to look it up. His hair turned snow white at a very young age.
Just thinking aloud and wondering if perhaps Trump is getting some info/advice from Gen Jack Keane....if he isn’t, he should be! Keane is top notch, and would be spectacular as an advisor to Trump!
You know he’s a Democrat?
Hmmmm. Ann Coulter!
Going out on a limb here. Everything Trump has said about what he wanted and who was being vetted for VP is and was a smoke screen.
It’s gonna be Col. Alan West.
I know Pence is young enough and he
is great on so many issues but trade.
I think he may agree with TPP. Tell me
if I am wrong.
Look at Indiana’s economy. We are in the black! Must be. Our factories are building on!
He understands fair trade!
Btw. Found this old article
Not any more. Another one that the party left him.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Gen Flynn was tapped for Sec Def or CIA chief.
Lots of good positions for good military men. Dept of Defense, CIA, joint chief of staff.
Trump is known even in business with recognizing talent and surrounded himself with the best.
His children and many employees say his best attribute is his ability to listen to many ideas then narrow the ideas down and pull out the best plan. Ivanka had a great video. She explained the technique. He always made the final decision. He didn’t want them upset if it failed but could praise their ideas if succesfuk. She says that’s what leaders do!
That was a great article, thanks. Glad to hear Indiana is doing well. I just pray Trump will be our next President.
Flynn could serve as National Security Advisor which is a top foreign policy job. Military men frequently serve as NSA: Scowcroft under Ford and GHW Bush. Macfarlane , Poindexter, and Powell under Reagan. Jones under Obama.
Or, he could be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs which is the top military advisor to the prez.
Or he could be SoS like Gen Powell(Bush2) and Gen Haig(Reagan)
Sadly, he needs to pick a black person so he can counter the racist nazi meme that the press and hildabeast have been successful at hanging around his neck.
Alan west is awesome but he’s got a big skeleton in his closet that the media will use to portray them both as unstable.
I still think Christie gets the nod. The left loves him so he helps get crossover votes. Plus Donald’s ego is big enough to think can take NJ and gut Hillary’s firewall.
Laura Ingraham fro press secretary. She would be great!
Laura Ingraham would be the best press secretary in the history of our great nation....
Whatever the position is, I would strongly like to see Gingrich in there. He is very good at the “talk” and the issues. And he is premium quality when it comes to dealing with the Congress. Be it VP, or some other “position”, it would be like buying a premium dividend paying stock.
She would stick it to the press
