Homestead officers pay bill of couple who refused to sit next to them at restaurant (Pa)

Homestead, PA. A group of policemen, eating at a Homestead restaurant, paid a couple's bill after the couple made it obvious they didn't want to sit by the officers on Saturday.

"A table goes to sit down and the guy looks over at one of the police officers and was like, 'Nah I don’t want to sit here.' So they got moved completely opposite, away from the police officers," said Eat N' Park server Jesse Meyers.

Homestead police Officer Chuck Thomas said it was obvious the man and woman didn't want to anything to do with the police officers.

"I looked over and said, 'It's OK sir. You won't have to worry about it, we won't hurt you," Thomas said. "He looked at me hard again and said he’s not sitting here and walked away."

Thomas said he and another officer thought they should pay the couple's bill and asked Meyers to bring the check.

"Essentially the whole goal of it was to let him know that we’re not here to hurt you, we’re not here for that," Thomas said. "We’re here for you. We work for the public. And we just want to better the relationship between the community and the police."

The waitress got lucky too as THOSE people don’t tip.

They should have just paid the tip, since libtards are notoriously bad tippers. After all, it’s better for the servers to work zero hours at $15/hr at the out-of-business restaurant, instead of being “wage slaves” at $9/hr plus voluntary tips for good service.

I like cops of all types. I don’t like parts of the police-state or the government bureaucracy they must work under, but cops are always regular guys - white, black, hispanic, whatever.

Local and city cops are the best. They aren’t bureaucrats nor do they have to deal with any thing above local politics.

In our small town, you might know the cop’s parents. Or you, or your kids may have gone to school with them. I was on my Dad’s street and the cop who responded to an old woman who crashed her car at the end of the block was on my baseball team as a kid. His sister dated my brother in high school. That is how all policing should be.

Doing such things will ‘heap coals on the head of your enemies’.

That was a nice gesture, but people like that will never think, “Oh, that was nice of them.” They think, “See? Treat them like crap and they recognize your superiority.”

They are way nicer that I think that I would have been. Kudos to them for taking the high road.

In fact, I think that if I was the hostess, I would have refused to seat them at that point.

Agreed. A classic example of casting pearls before swine. A wasted effort which will be interpreted as weakness.

If I am at a restaurant with officers, I pay their bill anonymously.

Cops will treat you right even when they’re arresting you if you just comply.
Once they’ve told you you’re going to have to ride with them to the station in the back seat, it becomes a legal matter to be sorted out later.

The time to fight is in court if the you think the cops messed up, not at the scene of whatever incident.

If they had not paid, the Lamestream Media would have accused the officers for being racist and meanie to the old couple. I am guessing that the couple were old gay males.

“The time to fight is in court if the you think the cops messed up, not at the scene of whatever incident.”

Precisely! Otherwise, there would not be any law and order.

Obey the officers. You will have your day in court, which is the most fair system in the history of the world, ever! If you think the laws themselves are unfair, you have a right to (work towards) electing representatives who will repeal such laws. Work with the system, which is the best system ever in the history of the world.

I sure wouldn’t have paid. I think it was a stupid thing to do.

“No problem, sir. It’s all good. Just go over there and enjoy your meal, on us, while we run your mugshot. If there’s a problem with it, we’ll sneak up on you and pile drive you into the linoleum floor three or four times until you’re not too disgusted to be seen riding downtown with us.”

Well, that’s how I’d be inclined to handle it if I were a cop. A cop friend always told me I’d make a helluva cop.
