In my youth, that would have been a ‘no go’ area for most decent people, black or white.

I realize times have changed and gentrification is what it is, but yeah, you live in one of those places and you are wearing a target on your back. Nice, employed, educated black people have also been killed in such areas. The thugs are equal opportunity killers.
