They only want democracy when it behooves them - the rest of the time they will tout the "representative republic" meme. The Constitution and the Rule of Law have become meaningless and we will continue the decline until they become relevant again.

There are Democrats who’ve realized Obama’s Title 9 mandate hurt their effort. Before his issued an edict on high, there was a slow creep like the boycotts on states that passed bathroom bills.
Then he issues an edict specifically to insult and force the matter, into the schools, killing public debate and accommodation. End result - moderates who might have shifted over time now hate the issue being forced on them and won’t approve of it now, while the supposed minority that would be a holdout are now energized by the top down mandate.
