Personally, I would prefer Stutzman because (i) he’s more conservative than the announced candidates while having as good of a shot at winning as do the others and (ii) he currently is not the nominee for another office, so it would be less disruptive to pick him (the other three then can be chosen to remain on the ballot for Lt. Gov. or Congress). But the replacement gubernatorial nominee will be selected by the 22 members of the state’s Republican Central Committee, and I doubt that someone who has not expressed an interest in running (like Stutzman) will be considered, much less selected.

What votes has Brooks cast that make her worse than other IN GOP Representatives? I thought that she voted about the same as Young, Rokita and several others (maybe not Stutzman). I know that she’s no Dan Burton, but those were some big shoes to fill.

Yes, Stutzman does not appear to be interested and no one is even floating his name. We have to deal with the candidates that actually run. State House Speaker Brian Bosma has declined so it looks like a 3 person race.

I’m not at all interested in the vulgar comments DJ cited made by someone on this thread about Rokita. I’d view endorsing Jeb or Kasich as a mark of Cain, not Rubio.

FWIW Brooks’ ACU rating is low, 71.67%, tied with Jackie W for worst in the state GOP delegation, Rokita’s is 91.53%, second highest behind Stutzman.

Nothing I’ve ever heard about her would disabuse me of the notion that she’s not so great. She voted the wrong way on that big transgender vote. And I forget the details but her recent spiel as what she would do as Governor sounded touchy-feely to me. I wouldn’t mind at all if she lost and was not selected to replace herself in the Congressional race.

Appointed LT Governor Holcolmb, who’s never run for office before, doesn’t stand out to me.

So I’m thinking Rokita is the obvious choice for freepers to support.
