I have been thinking about something called virtue signaling. This is when somebody says something that “everybody knows” is right and virtuous. (Read almost any celebrity Tweet or anything said by The Dixie Chicks.) Therefore the speaker is also right and virtuous. Somehow the Left has captured and made correct all the “virtues” that will enable them to stay in power. For example, backing solar or wind power over coal or oil nets them the opportunity to direct the flow of vast sums and therefore rake off substantial amounts. It’s the same with all their signaling, including pro-immigration. You can be sure there is money in it, either in setting up and running social welfare agencies or graft from the nations where the refugees come from.
Somehow Conservatism needs to capture a few virtue signaling devices that back conservative initiatives. Frankly, though, I don’t see it happening. The Left are herd animals and the right are cats.
