What the hell, Erdogan flying around during a coup?
He was on vacation in Marmaris, on the Mediterranean coast. The plotters neglected to send a detachment to grab him (he claims his hotel was bombed after he left). So, he hopped onto his Gulfstream and flew to Istanbul, where he was greeted by a crowd of supporters and gave a speech on TV.
His flight path reveals apparent indecision over the south coast of the Sea of Marmara prior to descending and making the approach into Ataturk Airport. Perhaps they needed to wait for his supporters to move some tanks parked on the runways.
Apparently flew the coup...
