While stationed in the UK in 1963 a few of us went to a RR show in Ipswich. The headliners were LitlecRichard and the Everly Bros. The warm up group was the Stones, unheard of by anyone I knew. He sang, “ I Wanna Be Your Man”
He lept around the stage like a spastic money and when he was done there was total silence for a good 10 seconds before a few Brits, unfailingly polite, began to slowly and uncertainly clap.
No one knew what to make of these guys. My buddies looked at each other and basically said WTF was THAT!
