And maybe that resistance was anticipated and exploited so as to eliminate all political opposition and consolidate Erdogan's totalitarian radical Islamist rule.

Mao launched the Hundred Flowers campaign (for ideological pluralism) with the saying, "Let a hundred schools of thought contend! Let a hundred flowers bloom!" After a few months he had identified his ideological opponents and then cracked down on them and tossed them into the laogai system. Maybe Ergodan is doing the same thing.
