Presidential health has long been in public preview. FDR hid his problems as did JFK. Physicals are reported by the surgeon general or at lest the presidential physician from BETHESDA NAVAL HOSPiTAL. It is public to a degree. Candidates have washed out of the process as a result, and during the Cold War years it seemed to be an important topic in the news. At least the press thought it was.

The press is always interested more in something that can be turned into gossip than in facts-it is good for ratings...

I’m not worried about a pres with a physical disability-like FDR, or like the governor of my state, Greg Abbot-who is partially paralyzed and ambulates with a wheelchair, as long as they aren’t taking a bunch of feelgood drugs, or psychotropics-JFK supposedly was taking so many heavy duty drugs-painkillers, speed, sleeping pills and antidepressants-that we would probably have been in very real danger if something bigger than Cuba would have happened when his fingers were close to the nuke button...
