Do you qualify for unemployment if you were fired?

I have been told here on FR you can't if you are fired for cause. However, I know people who have.

Working in AL, I can tell you from experience that short of murdering someone or threatening to do it, the good ole state makes sure you get your unemployment. They make it nearly impossible for employers to fight the claims.
