Thanks for the heads-up.

There’s still a question whether Cruz got an insider deal....whether his margin account permitted that size loan or whether G/S juggled the books for him.....and whether he still owes on the “loan.”

The financial guys have a fix on the money pile. Easy to see how wall street makes money disappear faster than a cream puff at weight watcher weigh-in.

It’s the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Because Molly Ivins and her gang were poring over the Canadian law books to find a way that Cruz might not have realized he was a Canadian citizen.

There are many ways that Ted COULD have been a citizen of Canada in 1978.

Had his father been a natural-born citizen of Canada, his father could have departed Canada for any number of years without having to document that he intended to maintain his citizenship, and Ted could have maintained his Canadian citizenship through his father.

Had either parent been a citizen of Canada at the time of his birth, he would have been a natural-born citizen.

Had his mother repudiated her American citizenship, he would not have been born a citizen of America, and the 1978 Canada Citizenship Act would not have excluded him due to dual citizenship.

As it stands, Ted ceased to be a Canadian citizen in 1978 due to his American citizenship, lack of birthright citizenship in Canada, absence of himself and both parents from Canada, lack of a natural-born Canadian parent, and lack of deliberate registration as a Canadian citizen (presumptiveness of the Canadian election system notwithstanding).

In 2009, Canada nullified its removal of his citizenship, without notification. In fact, his circumstance was quite unusual and he remarkably fell between the cracks. If he ever claimed to be a Canadian citizen, or his parents ever claimed him as a Canadian citizen, that documentation should be in the public record and very easy to find.

I can’t believe anyone is still defending this guy.

Some people love "perfect saints" (smirk).

Will he understand this now?

Why did you not even bother to read the article? You are dead wrong:

>>But under Canadian law, he also became a citizen of that country the moment he was born.

Unless the Texas Republican senator formally renounces that citizenship, he will remain a citizen of both countries, legal experts say.

Snip

“He’s a Canadian,” said Toronto lawyer Stephen Green, past chairman of the Canadian Bar Association’s Citizenship and Immigration Section.

Snip

“If a child was born in the territory, he is Canadian, period,” said France Houle, a law professor at the University of Montreal. “He can ask for a passport. He can vote.”

The fact that Cruz left Canada when he was 4 doesn’t affect his status there, either.

“If you leave when you’re 2 minutes old, you’re still an American. It’s the same in Canada,” said Allison Christians, a law professor at McGill University in Montreal. “He’s a Canadian citizen.”

Snip

The situation reflects the overlapping jurisdictions, said Demetrios Papademetriou, president of the Washington-based Migration Policy Institute, who called birthright citizenship common in English-speaking countries.

“If Ted Cruz was born in Canada, he is Canadian. He is American. He is a dual citizen,” he said.<<

[These are only a sampling of the quotes. There are many more. You really should have read the article.]

I was a Cruz supporter. If Cruz can put a stop to this he should and do it quickly. If he can’t he should denounce it immediately. Otherwise he is headed to chasing ambulances or living on wife’s income.

I agree, and I was a Cruz supporter early on as well. I was even hoping for a Cruz/Trump or Trump/Cruz ticket. But the ticket idea, honestly, did not last too long. I started investigating Trump. Like everyone else I certainly knew of him, but not really much about him. What I found out, and heard him say made me switch entirely to Trump.

Now I cannot stand the man-child, and I most certainly resent these delegates trying to undermine the will of the voters. He most certainly could have kept his promise that he made to support the eventual nominee. That to me leads directly to his true lack of character. He's a pretender in every way.

Because the article isn’t WRONG... it’s just missing a key piece of information.

Neither of us disagrees that in 2009, Cruz was a Canadian citizen.

The weird fact is that he was not recognized as a Canadian citizen between 1977 and 2008.

Has Cruz ever released verification that his mother was a US citizen at the time of his birth? That’s probably the most significant factor, right?

How would you verify that?

There is evidence that Cruz’ mother had relinquished her US citizenship. To which evidence can be added the fact that Cruz has released so little by way of documentation. If his consular file verified his story, there’d be no reason to keep it sealed.
