Cruz’s parents never filed for Canadian citizenship for Ted. Canada did not permit dual citizenship prior to 1977, meaning that the mere fact that Ted claimed American citizenship inherently nullified his Canadian citizenship until 2009. And Ted-Birthers take note: even his long absence from Canada alone, without taking any action to preserve his citizenship, would have caused his citizenship to be nullified. In 2009, Canada rescinded the prohibition against dual citizenship and automatically reinstated the citizenship of everyone who had lost it.

When challenged on his Canadian citizenship in 2010, he literally could not possibly have known he was a Canadian citizen for more than a year.

You are flat out wrong. Go back and read the Dallas Morning News story that first reported Cruz’ Canadian citizenship. Numerous citizenship lawyers are quoted in it. They ALL said point blank Cruz was a Canadian citizen at birth. Every single one.
